Frost/Nixon Jan. 24 thru Feb. 2 at Schenectady Civic Players

The third main stage play of Schenectady Civic Players’ 92nd Season, Frost/Nixon, by Peter Morgan and directed by Evan Jones, opens Friday, January 24, and plays through Sunday, February 2 at its 12 South Church Street Playhouse in Schenectady’s historic Stockade district.

Frost/Nixon is based on a series of televised interviews that former U.S. President Richard Nixon granted broadcaster David Frost in 1977 about his administration, including his role in the Watergate scandal. It originally played 137 performances on Broadway in 2007 with Frank Longella as Nixon and Michael Sheen as Frost.

British talk-show host David Frost has become a lowbrow laughingstock. Richard M. Nixon has just resigned the United States presidency in total disgrace over Vietnam and the Watergate scandal. Determined to resurrect his career, Frost risks everything on a series of in-depth interviews in order to extract an apology from Nixon. The cagey Nixon, however, is equally bent on redeeming himself in his nation’s eyes. In the television age, image is king, and both men are desperate to out-talk and upstage each other as the cameras roll. The result is the interview that sealed a president’s legacy.

FrostNixon runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (January 24, 25, 26) and 29 through February 2. Friday and Saturday curtains are at 8 pm. Wednesday and Thursday curtains are at 7:30 pm., and Sundays are matinees only at 2:30 pm.

Tickets are $20. Order on-line at www.civicplayers.org Or call (518) 382-2081
