Maple Day at Grafton Lakes State Park

Grafton Lakes State Park is hosting its annual Maple Day. This event will be happening on Saturday, March 25th, from 10:00am-2:00pm. The weather is warming up, and that means it’s the perfect time for collecting maple syrup! We will be providing ice cream and maple syrup on behalf Maplewood Farms. 

Come on your own or bring out the whole family, Maple Day is the perfect event for all ages. Enjoy maple treats, crafts, and educational booths highlighting the wonders of the New York state tree and its sap! Learn about Indigenous, home, and modern practices for collecting sap and creating maple syrup.

The event will be held on March 25th from 10am-2pm, rain-or-shine. $3 cash per person, ages 5 and under free to enter. Maple treats are free while supplies last. There will also be maple products onsite for purchase.

No pre-registration required.

Grafton Lakes State Park is located off of Route 2, twelve miles east of Troy, New York. Please use the park’s main entrance on Grafton Lakes State Park Way for this event. There is no entrance fee for this event. For more information, please call the park at 518-279-1155.

Tuesday Treks : Every Tuesday 12:30 – 2:30

Join Len Tremblay on a moderately paced 3 mile hike every Tuesday in March to explore the wilds of Dyken Pond Center. Learn the trail system one at a time with a knowledgeable guide. Poop Walk at Dyken Pond EEC: Saturday March 25: 10:30am -12pm

The snow has melted and buried treasure has been uncovered. Take a “poop walk” looking for the evidence animals left behind throughout the winter.

Frear Park Old Timer’s Golf League

The Frear Park Old Timer’s Golf League is now accepting applications for membership. The League plays the back nine every Tuesday, at 0800, starting in late April. 

A, B and C groups are available. Handicaps will be established or accepted from the 2022 season. Open to all residents of the Capital District who are 65 years young.

Capital District Senior Softball League Looking for Players

Capital District Senior Softball League is recruiting players for their 53+ league for the spring/summer season.  There are 53+ hi-arc, 53+ modified (medium pitch), and 65+ modified (medium pitch) divisions.

The Twin Town Regional Baseball League is back for its third season!

Twin Town Little League is now offering a non-travel baseball league for players of all ability levels ages 17 – 25. This is a wood bat league open to anyone in the Capital District.

We will play a 10-game season running from May 30 – July 16, with games primarily at our Williams Road Complex. Games will be scheduled most Saturdays in addition to 4-5 weeknight games, typically Tuesday or Thursday. There will be no games over the July 4th weekend. 

We will honor requests for friends to play together whenever possible and will consider allowing entire teams to register. Player-managers are allowed and encouraged.

Registration fees are $165 for the season. Partial and full scholarships may be available based on eligibility.

May & June Lacrosse Programs for Boys 

CAPITAL DISTRICT – Capitalland lacrosse will be running a boy’s MAY & JUNE lacrosse programs.  Players can chose to play on Tuesdays night, Sunday afternoons or BOTH.  Programs will start on May 16 and end on June 25.  Each group will play for an hour and a half each day/night.  Levels include: a co-ed K – 5th learn to play program; boys instructional programs for beginner & novice players grades 2nd – 5th & 6th- 10th; an advanced instruction program for players in graders 3 – 6 & 7 – 9 who want to refine their game while being introduced to more advanced techniques.  All age level will be separated and a scrimmage will be held each night.  For more information on all of these programs go to www.capitallandlacrosse.com or e-mail us at chad@nullcapitallandlacrosse.com.
