Grafton Senior Center Weekly News

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Cropseyville, will be open with limited hours. The center is now open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 3:00 with congregate lunch and activities. Monday, Wednesday and Fridays the center will be open 9:30 to 11:30. Chair Yoga continues on Monday and Fridays at 10:00. Tuesdays offer Senior Yoga Plus class at 10:00. Both yoga sessions are low impact exercise that seniors can do at their own pace. 

November 15th Jillian with Cornell Cooperative Extension will present the monthly Eat Smart Demonstration at 11:15, and then at noon it is our Special Luncheon with music by Brian Zapel. Come dance, sing-a-long and listen to some music from the past. 

November 22nd Rachel will do haircuts/mani’s/pedi’s by Appt only. Call now for an appointment time. The center will be closed Nov 11th (Veterans Day) and Nov 24th and 25th for Thanksgiving. 

There is an ongoing Basket Raffle Fundraiser (90 baskets) at the center. Stop at the center weekdays to view the baskets. Tickets are 10 for $5 or 25 for $10. The drawing will be held November 17th at 1:00 following our Thanksgiving turkey dinner at noon. There will be door prizes drawings for those that attend lunch on the 17th. The Grafton seniors will have a table of items for sale at Grafton’s Tree Festival and Craft Fair on Nov 19th at 40 Dunham Reservoir Road, Crospeyville. Stop by at both events and support your seniors. Money raised will fund special events, activities, prizes and awards at the center. 

Congregate lunch is served at the senior center Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon for a suggested donation of $3 for seniors and a cost of $5 for non-seniors. Please call early to be added to the lunch list at (518) 279-3413 so we can be sure to have enough food pre-pared.

Grafton Senior Center Fundraiser

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Grafton, is holding a Basket Raffle and Craft Sale fundraiser. Profits will be used for activities, entertainment, prizes and awards at the center. Stop in weekdays 9 to 2:00 to view over 90 baskets on display, purchase your tickets, and to check out our craft sale table. 

The raffle drawing will be on November 17th starting at 1:00. All who come for lunch at noon will receive an entry for door prizes, which will be drawn at the end of the Basket Raffle drawing. The lunch will be a hot turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, peas and pumpkin pie for a suggested $3 for seniors and $5 for non-seniors. 

Call 518-279-3413 now to be added to the lunch list. The seniors will also have a sale table of homemade crafts at the Grafton Tree Festival and Craft Sale on Nov 19th at 40 Dunham Reservoir Road, Cropseyville. Plan to attend both events to support our local seniors.

Sycaway Seniors

On Monday, Nov. 21, at noon, hairdresser Dina McDonald of “This Where It’s At” salon, located at 441 5th Avenue, Lansingburgh will be visiting Sycaway Seniors. We meet at the Brunswick Community Center at 18 Keys Lane. Ms. McDonald has offered to give two members a new hair stye for the holidays, free of charge. She will bring her beauty supplies and explain how they could benefit each senior. 

Our nest meeting will be on Monday, Dec. 5th. At that time, we will have our exciting Christmas party which is being catered by Testo’s Restaurant. The menu is for ziti, sausage& peppers, meatballs and tossed salad. Music will be provided, by Bob Treffiletti and there will be singing and dancing by all. We will have tree decorating and a grab bag. Bring a friend, Guests are welcome for the party for $10.00 each.

November 14th – 18th Week Long Christmas Decoration Sale

Aall proceeds benefits senior programs. Stop and shop. We Are Open 9am to 3pm open Monday Through Friday. We Are Located On East And Herrick Streets In Rensselaer Across from The Amtrak Train Station. 

Thanksgiving Dinner November 17th 

Enjoy a great Turkey Dinner and Pumpkin Pie. Music by Rocking Rob Carson. 

November 30th Rootbeer Float Wednesday.
