News at the Grafton Senior Center

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Cropseyville, will be open with limited hours. State and County Guidelines will be posted and must be followed at all times. The center is now open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 3:00 with congregate lunch and activities. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the center will be open 9:30 to 11:30. Join us for Chair Yoga Monday and Wednesday at 10:00. On Tuesdays, there will be Senior Yoga Plus class at 10:00. Both are low impact classes that ALL seniors can do at their own pace. 

The center will have a Special Luncheon on Oct 18th with one of our favorite music groups, Gone Gray. Plan to bring a friend, and dance, ling-a-long, and listen to some music from the good ole days. Our Annual Halloween Costume Party Oct 27th. Come in costume to be eligible for a prize. There will be games and fun activities at the center.

Seniors have been busy working on crafts for the Holiday Bazaar Fundraiser. There will be a basket raffle fundraiser at the center starting October 17th. The drawing will be held November 17th at 1:00. Please stop in the center to view our baskets. Tickets are 10 for $5 or 25 for $10. Stop in weekdays at the center to view the baskets. Looking ahead, the center will host a Veteran Appreciation Day on Nov 10th. All veterans and seniors are invited. Please call to be placed on the list. 

Congregate lunch is served at the senior center Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon for a suggested donation of $3. Grab-n-Go meals are also available on Tuesday and Thursday. Please call early to be added to the lunch list at (518) 279-3413 so we can be sure to have enough food pre-pared.

Sycaway Seniors

The Sycaway Seniors meet the first and third Mondays of the month, at 12:00 at the Brunswick Community Center on Keyes Lane. We have a fun filled time of sharing and caring. We have refreshments, a 50/50 drawing and Bingo. All seniors are welcome.

October 17th we will have a wonderful opportunity to learn some fascinating facts about Brunswick. Our guest speaker will be Sharon Zankel, the former Brunswick Historian. Sharon has done much research and fact finding about Brunswick founding families, farms and businesses. After her presentation there will be a time for Q&A. Perhaps you might discover some interesting facts about you own ancestry. 

Please come and join us and get to know some of your neighbors and a great deal about the community we live in.

Rensselaer County Rensselaer Senior Center 52nd Year Anniversary Celebration Thursday, October 27th

Join our Senior Center as we celebrate 52 years of success in serving our seniors. The night starts at Melvin Roads Post in East Greenbush with cocktails and hors’ d’oeuvres from 5 to 6pm. 6pm welcome, 6:15pm Dinner is served. Dinner consists of Tossed Salad, Prime Rib with Vegetable, Baked Potato with Sour Cream, Vanilla Ice Cream with Chocolate sauce and Anniversary Cake. Music By The Paul Slingerland Trio from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are available At the Rensselaer Senior Center for $30 each. Attendance will be capped at 100. First come first served, this is a $45 Value. Each ticket is subsidized $15 By the Rensselaer County Senior Center Membership Fund. Attention Closet Cleaners

Are you switching the seasons over in your closet? If you didn’t wear it this summer don’t pack it away! Donate to our Boutique at the Rensselaer Area Senior Service Center. All proceeds go towards senior programs. We are now accepting quality fall and winter clothes as well as quality spring and summer clothes. If you gained weight over a very social summer, don’t pack it away you deserve a shopping spree when you reach your ideal weight again. We greatly appreciate you. Donny Elvis Tuesday October 18th at Rensselaer County Senior Center

Join us as we welcome in Autumn with an always enjoyable afternoon with Donny Elvis. Donny is the number one Elvis Tribute Artist in the area. Our day starts with a wonderful nutritious lunch of Chicken Parmesan, Italian Blend Vegetables and Pasta. Followed by a show you’re sure to enjoy. The Speigle-Elders Senior group is sponsoring a trip; PA Amish Holiday Tour, 3 days – 2 nights, Nov. 9th-11th. Wade MotorcoachTransportation.
