Grafton Senior Center Open House

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Cropseyville, will have an Open House during the Grafton Festival on July 16th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Stop in and check out the events and activities lined up for our residents 60 and over. 

There will be several Tag Sale tables, a Bake Sale table, and an Ice Cream Sundae table in the center. Anyone wishing to make a donation of tag sale items can contact the senior center at 518-279-3413. This is a good time to clean out some cluttered closets and cupboards. Income from the sales will help fund special events, entertainment and activities at the center.

Grafton Senior Center News

Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, will be open with limited hours. State and County Guidelines will be posted and must be followed at all times. The center is now open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 3:00 with congregate lunch and activities. Mondays and Fridays the center will be open 9:30 to 11:00 for our 10:00 Chair Yoga class. On Tuesdays, there will be Senior Yoga Plus class at 10:00. Both are low impact classes that ALL seniors can do at their own pace. 

July 12th Jillian with CCE will present an Eat Smart Demonstration at 11:15. Following lunch (chicken tenders) we will have the July birthday celebration with cake and a fun game of Trivia. Rachel will also be at the center for Haircuts/Mani/Pedi’s by appt only. July 14th the senior center is closed. All residents 60 and over are encouraged to attend the Rensselaer County Senior Picnic Day at the Joe Bruno Stadium. Gates open at 10:30. The Tri-City Valleys vs New York Boulders game starts at 11:00 as well as the senior picnic. RSVP for tickets at 518-270-2730. This is a free event for all residents 60 and over, and all are encouraged to attend. July 16th the center will hold an Open House from 8:00am to 3:00pm during the Grafton Festival. There will be tables inside with tag sale items, bake sale items, and ice cream sundaes. July 19th is the Special Luncheon (Mac-n-Cheese) at the senior center with music by Brian Zapel. Come and dance, sing-a-long or just listen to some music that will take you back a few years. July 21th, following lunch (Butter crumb Haddock), the center will host guest speaker, Mike Fonda, to discuss how we interact with each other when our opinions or beliefs differ with others. 

Congregate lunch is served at the senior center Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon for a suggested donation of $3. Grab-n-Go meals are also available Tuesday and Thursdays. Please call early to be added to the lunch list at (518) 279-3413.

Hoosick Area Seniors announce Senior Bus Trip

The Hoosick Area Seniors have planned a bus trip on Monday, August 15, 2022 to Vermont. The bus will go to the Woodstock General Store where you can find everything from soup to nuts just like the old days, VINS Nature Center, lunch at Pizza Chef of Quechee, Simon Pearce Factory of Glass Blowing, and Billings Farm and Museum. The bus will leave Hoosick Falls TOPS at 7:00 and return around 6:30.

Cost for the trip is $45 which includes the bus, lunch, entrance to the museum and entrance to VINS. Hoosick deadline is July 22. All others must be signed up by July 29. Money is due at signup. Please call Julie for reservations at (518) 686-7561. Money is due at the time of sign-up.

We have a Unbelievable Array of Christmas Decorations for sale, due to the generosity of our community supporting senior programs. 

People of all ages are invited to come and shop. With the economy the way it is you are going to like these prices. Come early and spend some time in our boutique. After a morning of shopping you will be ready for a relaxing, delicious lunch. Reservation needed for lunch. Suggested contribution for lunch is $3. The Community’s Help Is Needed Again

The Rensselaer County Senior Center is putting together bingo prizes for our nursing homes. We are in need of jewelry gift boxes for earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Having the jewelry in boxes makes it look so much nicer. We want to thank everyone that donated their jewelry and other items to our boutique. Your generosity has made it possible for us to support senior programs and donate some beautiful jewelry for bingo gifts. Thank You So Much !!!

East Side Seniors

Our next meeting will be on July 12,2022, at the American Legion Post in Wynantskill. We hope to get more active seniors who enjoy playing BOCCI, Bingo, and games of choice. New officers are needed as well as others to help us to get re-started. The Bocci ,plans to start on Sept. 12, 9:30 at the ICC. We will have dessert at the meeting. Hope to see you.

Troy Senior Center’s Captain JP Luncheon Cruise

Troy Senior Center is hosting a cruise on the Captain JP, July 14, 2022. We will board the boat at 11:30 and sail from Noon till 3:00 p.m. A buffet lunch of prime rib, chicken cordon blue, fish and vegetable lasagna will be served. Entertainment will be provided by a DJ. Join us for an afternoon of fun, good food and awesome company as we sail the Hudson. Cost is $40 per person. Call 518-270-5348 to reserve your ticket.

Card Game Thursdays

Thursdays at the Rensselaer County Senior Center there is Pinochle games. Like to play pinochle? Join us for lunch and a card game or two. This is great mental stimulation and a good time. Good News, Grab and Go Lunch is Available Five Days a Week

RENSSELAER – The Rensselaer County Rensselaer Senior Center are offering nutritious meals Monday through Friday. Pickup is at 11:30. 

Please call the day before to order your lunch and enjoy a hot homemade meal 5 times a week. 

Must be 60 years old to participate in this great program. Suggested contribution is $3 per meal. No one is denied a meal due to inability to contribute. Call 518-463-2166 for more information. Located on East and Herrick Streets.
