Eat Smart Demo and Census Info for Seniors

GRAFTON – Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Grafton, will host Jillian Ludwig, Community Nutrition Educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension for our monthly Eat Smart – Live Strong cooking demonstration on Wednesday, March 11th at 11:00. There will be free recipes and samples for everyone who attends. Plan to stay for a nutritious lunch (Liver Fiesta w Bacon) at noon, followed by a guest speaker at 12:40, who will talk about the importance of the upcoming census and explain how to complete the census forms. All residents 60 and over are encouraged to attend. Call 518-279-3413 to sign up for lunch.

Special Luncheon at Senior Center

GRAFTON – Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Grafton, will hold a Special Luncheon on Friday, March 13th at noon. Following the meal (Haddock Squares) there will be music entertainment by one of our favorites, Paul Slusar. All residents 60 and older are encouraged to come and singing along, or join in with dancing. This is free entertainment. Lunch is served daily at the Senior Center for a suggested $3 donation. Schodack Senior Center Special Dinner

HIICAP Information, Counseling, and Assistance

GRAFTON – Rensselaer County’s Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Rd, Grafton, and the Hoosick Falls Senior Center, 69 Church Street, will host HIICAP Assistance for all residents 60 and over now through September 2020. Sarah Legnard with Rensselaer County Dept. of Aging will be on hand from 9:30 to noon once a month at each of the seniors centers to answers questions you may have on HIICAP, including Medicaid, Medicare, Medicare ‘spend down’, Medicare Advantage, EPIC, MediGap, Health Insurance options and more. Sarah will be in Hoosick Falls the first Tuesday of each month and in Grafton on the first Friday of each month. Please take advantage of this free service.

AARP/Taxaide Services

CAPITAL DISTRICT – The AARP TaxAide program will begin providing FREE tax preparation services for low and moderate income residents in Saratoga, Washington and Warren Counties.  The TaxAide program is sponsored by the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the IRS. TaxAide preparers are trained in federal and state tax regulations and are certified by the IRS.

Wynantskill Seniors

WYNANTSKILL – Come have fun, socialize and join the Wynantskill Seniors. We meet every Monday at 1pm at the Wynantskill Town Hall Annex, Main Avenue. We have a small meeting, serve snacks, socialize and play bingo. Once a month we have a catered lunch instead of snacks, three times a year we go out to a restaurant and we have scheduled day bus trips to various locations about 6 per year. So come have a day outing enjoy yourself and meet new people. Hope to see you all there.

Poestenkill Seniors

POESTENKILL – Weekly meetings every Tuesday at 1pm at the Sullivan-Jones Post in Poestenkill. All seniors are welcome. Coffee and refreshments are served after the meeting, followed by Bingo and cards. The hall is handicapped accessible with sufficient parking. The Poestenkill Seniors have catered lunches, pizza, clam steams, fish fries and luncheons at various restaurants, informational talks on senior safety and bus trips to casinos, theaters and other points of interest.

Senior Domino Group Seeks More Players

E. GREENBUSH – The Town of East Greenbush Senior Domino Group meets each Wednesday from 12-3 PM in the Town Hall Community Room.

Join in the fun by stopping by any Wednesday to check it out! You do not need to be an experienced player. They will teach you. For questions call 518-477-4194.
