Poestenkill Youth Summer Camp

Poestenkill Summer Camp will be held July 8th-August 2nd at Poestenkill Elementary School from 9am-4pm. Each week will be filled with field trips to a variety of locations around the Capital Region including Grafton, Billy Beez, Fun Plex, Liberty Ridge Farm, Valley Cats, Zoom Flume, etc., art projects, STEM challenges, physical activities, water activities and visitors to camp. 7th Annual CHS 60’s Reunion

Summer is coming and Labor Day will follow, which means the 7th annual CHS 60’s Reunion will be Saturday, September 7, 2019. Please mark your calendar and save the date. As always, we meet every year the first Saturday after Labor Day. All classes from the 60’s including ‘60 to ‘69 along with all pre ‘60’s classes are invited to attend. We will meet again at the East Greenbush Firehouse pavilion on Phillips Road from 4 to 9 PM. Beer, wine, mixed drinks and soda, along with food will be available at reasonable prices. Wynantskill UFSD- Register Kindergartners Now for 2019-20 School Year

Parents of children who will attend kindergarten at Gardner-Dickinson School in the fall are encouraged to register their children now. Your child must be 5 years old by Dec. 1, 2019 to attend kindergarten in September.

To register, parents are asked to call Ms. Fazioli at 518-283-4600 ext. 10, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Registering your child for kindergarten now will make sure your child is ready to start the school year by ensuring all the necessary pvaperwork is on file. It also helps Wynantskill UFSD plan for the upcoming school year by providing school officials a better estimate of how many kindergarteners will attend school.

Twin sisters, both Troy residents, ending Army National Guard careers after 34 years

Lisa and Lynn Currier joined the National Guard together, served together and went to war in Afghanistan together. LATHAM, NY (07/02/2019) (readMedia)– Twin sisters who began their Army National Guard careers together, went to war in Afghanistan together and share a house in Troy together, are now planning their retirements from the New York Army National Guard together.

Master Sgt. Lisa Currier, a senior logistics officer, and her sister, retired Lt. Col. Lynn Currier, an information management branch chief, who both worked at the New York National Guard headquarters here are retiring after 34 years of service.

They will be honored with a retirement lunch on July 12 at Frear Park Golf Course.

Holly Hastings Recognized as Community Service Leader at SUNY Delhi

DELHI, NY (07/02/2019)– The O’Connor Center for Community Engagement (OCCE) at SUNY Delhi has recognized Holly Hastings of Eagle Bridge (Hoosick Falls Central School) for their outstanding commitment to community service. Hastings was named a Leader of Excellence: Bachelors, which recognizes seniors graduating with between 301-400 hours of service.

Averill Park Commencement Press Release

Averill Park Central School District held its 88th annual Commencement at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center on Saturday, June 29.

In total, 227 graduates received their diploma, though one would-be graduate was notably absent.

Kelsey Kittleson passed away in July 2017 after a two-year battle with brain cancer. She was a part of the Class of 2019.

On Saturday, High School Principal Heath Quiles and Superintendent of Schools, Dr. James Franchini, delivered welcoming remarks before graduate Emily Armlin spoke to the audience.

Mr. Vincent Gaetani served as the guest speaker for the afternoon. Mr. Gaetani is a long-time teacher at Averill Park CSD who is retiring. This year, seniors chose their commencement speaker.

Graduate Noora Ahmed delivered the farewell address to her class and spoke of her beloved classmate, Kelsey Kittleson.
