Concerned Citizens For Clean Drinking Water Meets with Supervisor Hammond
Poestenkill – On December 10, 2021, several members of Concerned Citizens for Clean Drinking Water (CCCDW) met with Poestenkill Town Supervisor Keith Hammond to discuss the current water issues in the area surrounding homes near Algonquin Middle School. The members shared their goal to restore safe drinking water to their community and stressed that the members’ interest is to work with town officials as the investigation goes forward.
During the meeting, CCCDW and Supervisor Hammond agreed to maintain an open dialog regarding the status of well testing and efforts to find the source of the PFAS contaminants. In particular, CCCDW requested that the results of private well testing be incorporated into updates that are provided to the public by Rensselaer County. CCCDW also shared information regarding alternate laboratory testing facilities that could speed up test results.
CCCDW is an ad-hoc group of area residents formed to share information and advocate at all government levels regarding the PFAS contamination found at Algonquin Middle School and nearby homes.
