Christmas Fair

The Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church at 175 Fifth Ave. will be hosting a Christmas Fair on Friday December 13th from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM and on Saturday December 14th from 10:00 AM unit 4:00 PM. Come see the luxurious items in Wesley’s Treasures, shop for homemade crafts and baked goods, browse the book nook, pose for a fun festive photo, and join in the fun of our silent auction. New this year, Stu’s Traveling Road Show offering entertainment appraisals of jewelry!

COHFAM Winter Fest

The Castleton-on-Hudson Farmers & Artisans Market (COHFAM) finished the summer season at the end of September, but the fun is not over yet! COHFAM will be holding its inaugural Winterfest on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 4:30 to 7:30 PM at the Castleton Fire Department, 11 Green Avenue. Ft. Crailo DAR Holiday Party Dec. 14th

The members of the Ft. Crailo DAR will hold their holiday party on December 14th all members and potential members are invited to attend. We will be meeting at the Crossroads Restaurant 43 Mall, Route 43 in West Sand Lake at 10:45 am and car pool to historic Knowlton House in Averill Park. After the house tour we will return to the Crossroads Restaurant for lunch followed by our grab bag ($15 max). Please let Michelle Schultz know if you plan to attend. Santa Visits the Village of Nassau

Due to the dangerous snowstorm last week, Santa’s visit had to be postponed. But the great news is that on Sunday, December 15, Santa will be visiting the Village of Nassau. He’ll be arriving at the Fire Department Hose Co. #1 –located on Chatham St. (Rt. 203) at 3:30pm– and will stay until 5pm. There’ll be delicious snacks, presents, and, of course, a chance to chat with Santa! To add to the fun, the Village Youth Committee will be helping children make ornaments. And, as an extra bonus, the annual Tree Lighting ceremony will be held at the Village Commons on John Street at 5pm. Cookies, hot chocolate, roaring bonfire and there’s no charge for any of the events. For information, call 518-522-2916.

Averill Park High School Annual Booster Club Holiday Fair

We will have a variety of local vendors and crafters, Chinese Auction, concessions and a bake sale too. All proceeds benefit school and community organizations. These include the Girl Scouts, the Key Club, parent organizations and Kelsey’s Promise.

The shop will be open on Thursday December 12th from 3 to 6 and on Saturday December 14th from 9 to 2, weather permitting. Located at 1249 Third Street in Rensselaer, the shop is on CDTA bus route #214. Entry is through the parking lot on the Catherine Street side.

Town of Nassau Community Holiday Party

Sunday, December 15th, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

There is no charge to attend this event at the Chandler Young Veteran’s Association, 7 Lyons Lake Road, Nassau

Come and join us for Carols, Games, Crafts, Holiday-themed snacks, a surprise visit by Santa and a silent auction to benefit the food pantries of the Nassau Resource Center and the Gathering Place. Children may bring letters to give to Santa!

The Veteran’s Association will be holding a separate adult-themed party starting at 6:00 p.m. with a nominal fee for the food they will be serving.

Book Nook News

The Book Nook at Transfiguration Parish on Hillview Drive in Speigletown is open on Saturday, December 21 from 9:00 am until noon. Books make great Christmas gifts and we have some of the best novels, historical and biographical stories, CD’s, DVD’s, children and young adult, cookbooks, religious and self-help books at very low prices. The December specials are on the following authors: Preston & Child, JA Jance and Nora Roberts. We also have a large selection of Large Print books which are 3/$1 during December. Lights in Sand Lake 2019 – Christmas Eve Luminaire Display

The Sand Lake Historic District creates Christmas Eve magic in Sand Lake!

The neighbors on Routes 66 & 43 and our friends on Shumann Rd. will have our annual luminary display on Christmas Eve – Tuesday, December 24th. Lighting of the luminary candles begins around 7:00pm and will continue as long as weather permits or until the candles burn out.
