Trunk or Treat – Sunday, October 27, 5-7 pm
Join us for a Halloween celebration for everyone! Emmanuel Reformed Church will hold a Trunk or Treat for families who want to have a fun and safe environment for their children (accompanied by an adult) as they go from trunk to trunk gathering Halloween treats in their bag. After gathering goodies, stay for free hot dogs with toppings, chips, cookies and beverages in our ministry pavilion. Put on your favorite costume and head on over for an evening of treats and fun on Sunday, October 27 from 5- 7 pm. We are located at 1150 Maple Hill Road, Castleton. Church of the Redeemer Thrift Shop
The volunteers at the Church of the Redeemer Thrift Shop work hard to provide a clean, well-organized shopping experience. The shop has a very large selection of clothing for all ages and sizes, gently-used baby equipment, toys, games, jewelry, household goods, Halloween costumes and decorations. The shop has earned an excellent reputation by offering quality merchandise at bargain prices. You’re sure to find something you didn’t know you needed.
The shop will be open on Thursday October 24th from 3 to 6 and Saturday October 26th from 9 to 2. Located at 1249 Third Street in Rensselaer, the shop is on CDTA bus route #214 and can be entered from the parking lot on the Catherine Street side of the building.

Trunk or Treat Sand Lake
October 27, 2019, 12:00-2:00, Sand Lake Town Hall Upper Parking Lot. We are currently looking for volunteers to decorate their trunk and pass out candy. A complete registration form is required to participate in this event. Trunk or Treat participants must provide their own treats to hand out at their trunk/tailgate. This is a family friendly event. Please decorate your trunk accordingly. Registered trunks may begin set up at The Town Hall parking lot at 11:00. All trunks must stay through the duration of the event. There will be no electrical support for vehicles. You are responsible for set up and cleanup of your trunk. Costumes are encouraged to enhance your decorated look. Applications are available online at the Town of Sand Lake Website, at the Town Hall, or can be emailed if you contact Lindsy Marshall, Youth Supervisor, at lekehn@nullyahoo.com. Greenbush Garden Club Awards Grants
Each year the Greenbush Garden Club awards grant to local schools or community organizations for educational programs and/or community beautification projects, ideally targeted to kids.
This year the Club awarded grants to the Robert C Parker school for a ground cherry garden and to the Green Meadow School for a rock garden. We wish them every success with these projects.
Money for the grants and the Club’s Garden Therapy program at Van Renesselear Manor is raised at our plant sale which is held in May of each year.
New members are always welcome. The Club meets at the East Greenbush Library. For the months of September, October and November of this year we will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. We hope to see you then.

Fantastic Fall Book & Media Sale
Don’t miss the Friends of the East Greenbush Community Library’s ever popular Book and Media Sale. Thousands of books have been donated and sorted so that only the best are presented at the sale. The sale is held at the library on Thursday, October 24, 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm; Friday, October 25, 9 am – 7 pm; Saturday, October 26, 10:00 am – 4:30 pm and Sunday, October 27, (Bag Sale only), 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
Books are organized in separate sections to make your shopping easier. There are more than 20 categories of hardcover and paperbacks, fiction and nonfiction on topics like cooking, biography, parenting, arts, poetry & drama, how-to and hobbies. Stop in for bargains on books, audiobooks, DVDs and CDs for adults and teens (no children’s books at this sale).
Only cash and checks are accepted. Prices for CDs are $1.00 and DVDs $2.00. On Thursday hardcover books are $2.00; on Friday and Saturday they are $1.00. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, trade paperbacks are $1.00 and mass market paperbacks are 50 cents. Sunday is for the Bag Sale only. For just $5.00 fill a bag full of books! Bring your own reusable grocery bag or use one of our plastic ones.

Table or Treat A Safe trick or treating, Melvin Roads
Melvin Roads is conducting a “Table or Treat”, like “trunk or treat” but indoors on Sunday October 27th, 2019 from 2 PM to 4 PM. A safe place for parents to take their children out “trick or Treating’ without heavy coats and flashlights. Inside “Hero’s Hall” sponsors will dress up, decorate a table and give out prepackaged items to the children. We are hoping to get between 25 to 50 sponsors. The post will provide Apple Cider & Apple Cider Doughnuts. A good time for all especially the very young and first-time trick or treaters.

Please join us on Sunday, October 27th from 3:30pm-5pm (while supplies last) for our second annual trunk or treat community event! This event is sponsored by the Greenbush Reformed Church and Sunshine Day Nursery School. It will take place in the parking lot of Sunshine Day Nursery School, located at 14 Hays Road, East Greenbush. West Sand Lake Fire Company Annual Halloween Party & Parade
Calling all ghosts and witches and ghouls and goblins (and Pokemon and Princesses, too)! The witching hour is at hand! Once again, the time has come to dress in all your spooky finery, and invade West Sand Lake.
The West Sand Lake Volunteer Fire Co. is sponsoring its annual Halloween party for kids of all ages on Sunday, October 27. As in previous years, we are planning a special treat for all our trick-or-treaters, and their parents. We will be proudly featuring our community’s costume creations in a parade from the West Sand Lake Elementary school to our Fire House.
If you would like to join our parade, please meet at the school at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 28. We will step off promptly at 1:00 p.m., and proceed to the Fire House. The traditional Halloween party, with costume judging, prizes, games, refreshments and surprises will immediately follow the end of the parade. As always, admission to the party is free!
So, plan on joining us on Sunday, October 27. It promises to be a fun time for all!

Trunk Or Treat Connecting Point Church
Trunk Or Treat is coming!!! Be sure to bring your friends and neighbors. In fact bring the whole neighborhood!!! Hosted by Connecting Point Church, Trunk Or Treat, also known as Halloween tailgating, cleverly brings Halloween from the uncertain streets to the safety of the church parking lot, turning the backs of cars, trucks, minivans and SUV’s into the new front porch! *Important info for people wanting to set up trunks- Please plan for about 150 children. We are proud supporters of The Teal Pumpkin Project and encourage those with trunks to have a non-food option to offer children with food allergies. We will provide participating individuals with a special sign for their vehicle to let families know you have a non-food option. Please arrive early enough to decorate your trunk so you are ready when the children start arriving at 4:00pm. No cars will be allowed to enter the lower lot after 4:00pm for safety reasons.
If you would like to participate but don’t want to have a trunk we can always use youth and adult volunteers to help with games and refreshments.

East Nassau Cookie Contest November 10th
Mayor Adam Acquario announced the Village of East Nassau’s 6th Annual Cookie Contest, Sunday, November 10th, 2019 at the Hoags Corners Fire House. Doors open at 1 p.m., judges begin tasting at 2 pm.

Harvest Craft and Food Festival
Join us at a joint Harvest Craft and Food Festival on Saturday, November 16, 2019, from 9 AM to 2 PM, featuring creations from the members of Church of the Covenant in Averill Park, Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church in Troy, Bloomingrove Reformed Church in Defreestville, and First Reformed Church of Wynantskill. This ecumenical event will take place at the First Reformed Church, Corner of Main Avenue (NYS Rt. 66) and Church Streets in Wynantskill.
Each congregation will have a variety of interesting crafts for sale. There will also be homemade canned goods, specialty Royal Icing cookies, a homemade soup and salad lunch, as well as frozen homemade entrees for you to purchase for future enjoyment. In addition, there will be a combined bake sale with the proceeds benefiting community organizations.
To make your shopping experience a relaxing event, we are offering free coffee and donuts, free fresh-popped popcorn, and a free “Kids Space” where kids can enjoy face painting and create their own projects, allowing you to freely browse the many creations and goodies we have to offer.

Holidays on the Hudson
The Village of Castleton-on-Hudson will kick off the Holiday season on December 1st from 3:30 to 4:30 PM at the Village Hall, 85 South Main Street.
