The Church of the Redeemer

The Church of the Redeemer Thrift Shop in Rensselaer offers a clean, well-organized shopping experience with a very large selection of clothing for all ages and sizes, housewares, toys, puzzles, jewelry, baby gear, Avon collectibles and much more. You’re sure to find something you didn’t know you needed from the vast selection of one-of-a-kind items. We’ll be open on Thursday June 27th from 3 to 6 and Saturday June 29th from 9 to 2. Please note: we will be closed the first week in July. As always, donations can be accepted only when we are open.

The shop is located at 1249 Third Street, Rensselaer on CDTA Bus Route #214. Enter through the parking lot on the Catherine Street side and be pleasantly surprised.

4th of July Celebration at MBCC

4th of July Celebration at the Malden Bridge Community Center a/k/a MBCC at 1087 Albany Turnpike in the hamlet of Malden Bridge – zip 12115.

Following the 4th of July community parade in nearby Old Chatham the members of MBCC will hold an Open House while offering delicious strawberry shortcakes covered with freshly whipped cream donated by Stewarts Shops, along with a variety of drinks for a donation of Five Dollars per serving starting at 10AM.

Take outs will be available but why not plan to stay and join with us for the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence at 11 AM.

There will be a large number of items donated by area merchants in a Silent Auction area for which attendees may bid.

As always, plenty of space for sitting and visiting while enjoying your shortcake.

Repair Café

What do you do with a broken lamp? Or a sweater with a hole? Toss it? No way! The Village of Castleton-on-Hudson will hold the next Repair Café on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 4:30 to 7:30 PM at the Castleton-on-Hudson Farmers and Artisans Market (COHFAM), on the corner of Scott Avenue (150) and Main Street (9J). If COHFAM is canceled due to rain, Repair Café will be held 7/12, same hours at the Village Hall instead. People visiting the Repair Café bring along their broken but beloved items. Volunteers try their best to make repairs, and it’s free of charge! Featured services in June are electrical, welding, seamstress, and “jack-of-all-trades.” Do you like to fix things and want to volunteer? Rensselaer County’s Second Annual Farm Day Out!

When: August 18th 12pm-3pm Where: Kinderhook Creek Farm (5168 S Stephentown Rd, Stephentown, NY 12168)

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County and The Eckhardt Family at Kinderhook Creek Farm from 12-3pm on Sunday, August 18th, for Rensselaer County’s Second Annual Farm Day Out! Kinderhook Creek Farm is an 1150+ acre field crop and vegetable farm that has been owned and operated by the Eckhardt’s since 1959. Once parked, a hay wagon ride will take you through some of the fields at Kinderhook Creek Farm. Through interactive demonstrations you will learn about the different crops (such as hay, grain, sweet corn, and the many vegetables) grown on this farm. You will also see how their farm products get to market and eventually to your family’s table. Also, be sure to visit exhibits set up by local organizations & businesses, experience the equipment used on the farm by the farmers and see the 4-H Club sponsored petting zoo. Food, corn on the cob, ice cold watermelon and other farm fresh foods will be available to purchase for your enjoyment. Admission and parking for this event is free and open to the public. Stephentown Craft Fair

The Veterans of Stephentown are hosting a Craft Fair on September 7, 2019 at the Veterans Memorial Park in Stephentown. Table space is 10 ft. in length for $25.00, Wi-Fi and Electricity are available for an additional cost of $5.00 each.

Vendors Wanted for the SonShiners’ 5th Annual Craft-Tag Sale

Applications being accepted for our Annual Craft-Tag Sale of the SonShiners of the Stephentown Federated Church on Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 9 am to 4 pm at Ioka Valley Farm, 3475 RT 43, Hancock, MA. The fee to rent a 10’ X 10’ uncovered space outside on the lawn is $20. Bring your own tent/cover, tables, chairs. The event will be held rain or shine and all monies received will be considered a non-refundable donation. Applications are available by calling Barbara at 518-527-0182. Deadline for applications is September 13th. We’ll also be having an Ice Cream Social with make your own sundaes and root beer floats. No food vendors please. Celebrate Stephentown 2019 Is Coming August 16-18

Greetings from Celebrate Stephentown HQ:

Three months from today we’ll be kicking off Celebrate Stephentown 2019, the third annual edition of our town-wide, grassroots festival here in Stephentown, New York.

More than two dozen events are already in the works with our farms, businesses, churches and service organizations all working together to present three special days of family-friendly fun.

We’ll announce more schedule details in June, but in the meantime, please mark the third weekend in August on your calendar and keep your eyes open for future updates.
