Trunk or Treat at Gilead Lutheran Church,  Sunday, October 30, 2022

Halloween is actually Monday, October 31, 2022 but we made the decision to celebrate it a day early. It gives our “truckers” more time to get ready for our visitors. That is a good point for us but it also frees up time for our little friends to go out again on Monday for more loot. Our trunks open at 3:00 PM and will close at 5:00 PM. If you enjoy watching the little one dress up but don’t have children of your own to take around, please feel free to come and hand out candy and goodies with us. Just to let you know, we have had close to 200 little visitors each year. In 2021 we had some of our canine friends stop by, some in costume and other just stop by for a pat on the head.

We will be found in the parking lot behind Gilead Lutheran Church. You can’t miss us because Gilead is located at the intersection of Routes 7 & 278 in Center Brunswick.

Calling All Ghosts & Goblins – Halloween Party & Parade

Calling all ghosts and witches and ghouls and goblins (and Pokemon and Princesses, too)! The witching hour is at hand! Once again, the time has come to dress in all your spooky finery, and invade West Sand Lake.

The West Sand Lake Volunteer Fire Co. is sponsoring its annual Halloween party for kids of all ages on Sunday, October 23. As in previous years, we are planning a special treat for all our trick-or-treaters, and their parents. We will be proudly featuring our community’s costume creations in a parade from the West Sand Lake elementary school to our Fire House.

If you would like to join our parade, please meet at the school at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 23. We will step off promptly at 1:00 p.m., and proceed to the Fire House. The traditional Halloween party, with costume judging, prizes, games, refreshments and surprises will immediately follow the end of the parade. As always, admission to the party is free!

So, plan on joining us on Sunday, October 23. It promises to be a fun time for all!

News From Averill Park CSD

Congratulations to Averill Park High School students Cooper Smith, Christian Romer, Samuel Bonesteel and Tyler Michaels for being named Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program! All three elementary schools have students participating in the Girls on the Run program this year, and students at Algonquin Middle School are involved in Heart and Sole for the first time ever. Both programs inspire girls to build confidence and other important life skills through interactive lessons and physical activity. Good luck this season!

New to the High School is a Fab Lab Makerspace where, during their free time, students can work on various projects and machines, including a 3-D printer, a Cricut, Smart Car Kits, Ozobots, VR Goggles, Piper Computer Building Kits, Air Powered Racer Kits, and much more. We hope that students take full advantage of this space and get creative!
