Hoosick Falls Summer Concert Series

New York State blues hall of famers, the Bluz House Rockers, perform at Wood Park in  Hoosick Falls on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

The Bluz House Rockers are celebrating their 27th year in 2022. While they are honored to be members of the New York State Blues Hall of Fame, the Rockers have a varied repertoire, covering everyone from Frank Sinatra to the Allman Brothers. The fact that six of their seven members sing lead and/or harmony results in their ability to present varied musical styles.

They are honored to perform every January on the Delbert McClinton Sandy Beaches cruise into the Caribbean. Over the years, they have played at many casinos, including, Mohegan Sun (the Wolf’s Den), the Grand Opening of Turning Stone, Vapor Night club in Saratoga and Rivers in Schenectady.

They have played all the major fairs in the region: Altamont, Saratoga, Cobleskill and Schaghticoke.

They have performed at many galas: Cooperstown Hall of Fame Induction, SPAC, Jacob’s Pillow, Ronald McDonald House’s 30th Anniversary, WMHT, Wood Theatre and many more. BHR has opened in concert for many national acts, including Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Eddie Money, Marshall Tucker, Little Feat, Loverboy, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Mayall and The Turtles, and they have performed at the Times Union Center, Proctors, the Palace Theatre, Alive at Five and the Empire State Plaza Summer

Concert Series.

Although BHR is primarily a cover band, their self-titled Bluz House Rockers cd contained mostly original tunes written by lead singer, Trish Anderson. Her song “Three Dollar Bill” went to #2 on the pop 100 charts in Denmark, and she performed her original tunes at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas on the Dennis Bono Show which was simulcast on stations through the US and Canada.

BHR member Rick Rourke’s mother and other relatives are from Hoosick Falls, so it is always special for Rick and the rest of the band to perform at

Young Peacemakers Week

Are you interested in contributing to a peaceful world? If the answer is yes, help your child (grades 2-8) learn about peace within their own self, their community, and the global stage.

Young Peacemakers Week, held at the Friends Meetinghouse at 727 Madison Ave. in Albany, is set up to do exactly that during the week of August 22-26, 2022. The hours are 1:30-6:30, with a family meal shared from 5:30-6:30, accompanied by a family activity and singing. Peacemaking skills are learned in the context of typical summer day camp activities, including arts and crafts, music, non-competitive games, and nature-related fun.

The cost is pay-as-you-can, and no child will be turned away for inability to pay. Young Peacemakers Week is a welcoming community, and is open to children of all abilities, ethnicities, religions, etc. For more information, call Nancy Mattice at 518-366-1854, or visit us online at youngpeacemakersweek.weebly.com.
