Bushman and Givens Book Talk at SLHS

On Tuesday June 14th, at 7pm, the Sand Lake Historical Society will present David Bushman and Mark Givens, co-authors of “Murder at Teal’s Pond: Hazel Drew and the Mystery That Inspired Twin Peaks” at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts, 2880 NY 43, Averill Park. After their presentation, the authors also will host a book signing. Refreshments will be served. A donation of $5 is suggested for non-SLHS members.

Their recently-published book has been called “a brilliantly researched investigation into a nearly forgotten century-old murder that inspired one of the most seductive mysteries in the history of television and film.” Certainly not forgotten around here!

David Bushman is a long-time TV curator at the Paley Center for Media, the author of Conversations with Mark Frost: Twin Peaks, Hill Street Blues, and The Education of a Writer, and is currently an adjunct professor at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Mark Givens works as a consultant for the federal government and is the creator and host of the Twin Peaks – centric podcast Deer Meadow Radio and lives in Washington, DC.

The 1908 murder of Hazel Drew and the many tales and theories surrounding it is one of the enduring mysteries of Sand Lake. Even if you think you’re “heard it all” you probably haven’t! Please join us for this next chapter. New SLHS members are always welcomed. Like us on Facebook or visit Sandlakehistory.org.
