Rensselaer Senior Center Community Service Volunteers Needed

Looking for Dedicated Seniors to Help With our Community Service Program Every Thursday After Lunch.

Making Afghans and Lap Robes for People in Nursing Homes, Stuffed Animals for The Pediatric Departments in hospitals and emergency rooms, Heart Pillows for Heart and Lung Surgery patients. This Is a Very Rewarding Program and we are Needing A Few More Angels to keep this program in place, or if you are homebound and willing to Crochet or knit from home to help us out, then please call us if interested.

NYS Approved Defensive Driving Class

On Sat., March 16th, from 9 am to 3 pm there will be a New York State approved Defensive Driving Class to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Rensselaer County. Save 10% on your base auto insurance for the next three years and be eligible to receive up to 4 points off your driving record according to New York State Department of Motor Vehicle guidelines.

The class will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Rensselaer County, 544 Broadway, Rensselaer, NY 12144. Fee is only $35, bring a friend $30 each. Registration is required and can be made by calling the Club at 518-465-3403 or Raymond Frankoski at 518-286-3788.

Rensselaer Senior Center A.A.R.P. Driving Class

Need Help On Your Car Insurance? A Two day, AARP Defensive Driving Class, will be held at the Rensselaer Senior Center on April 23rd and 24th.  Class begins at 10am and will run until 1:45pm (Break For Lunch). $20 For AARP Members, $25 For Non-Members. Indoor Garage Sale, Silent Auction and Bake Sale

The Maple Hill Music Parents Association will be hosting their Indoor Garage Sale, Silent Auction and Bake Sale on Saturday, March 23rd, from 9am to 3pm, at the Schodack Central School District Building (formerly Maple Hill Middle School) at 1477 South Schodack Road in Castleton.

Village of Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Village of Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade is fast approaching on Saturday, March 16th at 1:00 PM.

Twenty-six years ago, local Irishman Mike Conway and TJ Carmody wanted to find a way to keep the Irish Culture and History alive in the

Hoosick area, and decided that a parade was the Ticket!

Please join us for this year’s event, as we host the second largest St. Patrick’s parade in the capital district.

Participating bands in this year’s parade are the Olde Saratoga Fyfe’s and Drums, Taconic Pipe Band, Hoosick Falls Pep Band and The Yankee Doodle Band. The parade will also feature floats fire trucks and Dancers.

Parade will begin in Wood Park, Main St., John St., Church St., Willard St., and Back down Main St. and back to Wood Park. The parade will step-off at 1:00 PM. Line-up at 12:20 PM.

After the parade, enjoy the Irish Festival. Different events at various locations around the Town of Hoosick.  The Hoosick Armory will host fun events with great Irish music, Craic Agus Ceol, Irish Dance with The Hubbard Hall Irish Dancers and great corned beef sandwiches and food from Jeans Place.

Union Gospel Easter Egg Hunt

The Union Gospel Church of East Poestenkill, 1039 Plank Rd, will be hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20th, from 10am-12. Families with children ages 1-12 are welcome to come and celebrate the true message of Easter.

Families with children ages 1-12 are invited to Sand Lake Baptist Church, 2960 NY-43, Averill Park, NY on Saturday, April 20th, from 2-4pm for an afternoon of hunting for candy-filled Easter eggs followed by an Easter story with a gift for each child. Come and enjoy the fun as we celebrate the empty tomb of our risen Savior!
