Glendora Vegetarian Club 

Glendora wants to pass on some helpful advice for staying healthy during the Covid-19 pandemic. The following tips come from Brooke Goldner , MD, in the Spring 2020 issue of American Vegan. First of all, eat healthy foods, particularly leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables. Include flax and chia seeds in your diet, foods that improve cellular function and immune response. Avoid inflammatory foods like meats and dairy because they can actually decrease immunity and cause disease.

It is also important to take care of your mind and spirit by reducing stress and anxiety. You might spend time each day meditating, listening to calming music or enjoying a relaxing bath. Regular exercise is another great avenue for self care. Walking, running, biking and other aerobic activities get the heart pumping and send nutrient rich blood from all the healthy food you are eating to all parts of your body.

Working to remain healthy in body and spirit will help to see you through these difficult times.

Nassau Community Connections Inc. 2nd Annual Chicken BBQ Fundraiser

NASSAU – Nassau Community Connections Inc. is proud to announce its 2nd Annual Chicken BBQ to benefit the Town of Nassau’s food pantries and the Sunshine Fund.  The Sunshine Fund makes no interest loans to people in need.  The BBQ is being held on July 26th from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. and is take out only at the Chandler Young Veteran’s Association, 7 Lyons Lake Road, Nassau, NY.  Tickets are $15.00 per meal (includes 1/2 chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll and dessert) and can be purchased by contacting Lori Clark at (518) 495-1229 or email at kcin12123@nullaol.com.
