July Special Luncheon
The Hoosick Falls Senior Center, 69 Church Street, will host a Special Luncheon (Chicken Patty) for residents 60 and over on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at noon. The center will have music entertainment by Glenn Hankle with his banjo following lunch. All residents 60 and older are invited to attend this free entertainment. Come and dance, sing-a-long or just listen to the music and reminisce. Please call (518) 686-7561 to sign up for the meal.
Free Community Meal
Hopes Kitchen, located inside Rensselaer Presbyterian Church, 34 Academy Street is providing a free community dinner Thursday 7/11/19, 3:30 to 6:30.
This event is open to everyone, singles, couples, families, homeless, and anyone else that wants a great meal, and fun socialization.
Here’s the menu for Thursday May 9th, Bar B Q Chicken, Green Beans, coleslaw, Rolls, Butter, coffee, tea, ice tea, lemonade, water, plus brownies.

Restaurant Salad Contest at Watervliet Strawberry Fest
New this year at the Watervliet Senior Center’s 7th Annual Strawberry Festival Friday July 12 from 4-6, local restaurants will compete for “Best Salad” during the event! The annual event is a fundraiser for the Senior Center and for $10 includes Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Salads, and Strawberry Shortcake. The event is held at the center, open to anyone, and there is a 50/50 raffle, a basket raffle, and entertainer Don Hyman a local favorite! You can sign up in advance at the Watervliet senior center at 1501 Broadway, or pay at the door that evening too.
Some of our local favorites, including Arsenal City Tavern, On the Hill Café, and more will be making the salads to go along with the BBQ. Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite! And, Bob Beston, our County Legislator, is making the hot dogs and hamburgers. Mr. Beston hosts this event to help raise money for the center.
Kiwanis Pasta Dinner – “All You Can Eat” Fundraiser
Second Saturday Of Each Month
The Sand Lake Kiwanis Club wants to invite all to participate in a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser on Saturday July 13th from 4PM to 7PM at the West Sand Lake Fire House on Rt. 43. All you can eat – $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 5 to 10 years old, kids under 5 are free. Meals will consist of spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, dessert & beverages. Take-out meals are also available by calling (518) 674-3677. A pasta dinner will continue to be held every second Saturday of each month. All proceeds support Kiwanis projects.

Hoags Corners Ambulance Pizza Night
The Hoags Corners Volunteer Ambulance will be having Pizza Night on July 19th from 5pm-8pm. With our ALL NEW PIZZA OVEN, there will be less of a wait time !! Toppings include pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, peppers, onions and black olives. We are now able to offer FREE delivery within the Ambulance District. Place your order by calling 518-328-8113,but please dont call before 4:30. Pizza Night will be held the 3rd Friday of every month. The Ambulance Garage is located at 19 Town Garage Rd.
Nassau Chicken BBQ
The annual Nassau Beatification Committee Chicken BBQ will take place Saturday, July 27 at the new Bicentennial Pavilion at the Village Commons Park on John Street. The meal includes half grilled chicken, baked potato, Cole slaw, roll and butter and a homemade brownie. Choice of a premium soft drink is included for the price of $10.00. Meals will be served from 4 – 6 pm and are available for take-out. Advance ticket sales are now available from the Nassau Village Clerk at Village Hall. Telephone reservations will be accepted through Wednesday, July 24 by calling (518) 766-2291. Limited tickets will be available at the door.
Annual Lobster Or Steak Bake
East Greenbush, NY — Van Rensselaer Star Chapter #256, Order of the Eastern Star and Van Rensselaer Lodge #87, F&AM, in East Greenbush are holding their annual Lobster or Steak Bake on Saturday, August 24th from 4 – 6 p.m. You may eat in or take out. The cost is $25 and reservations with money are required and binding. The menu includes: lobster or steak, baked potato, corn-on-the-cob, coleslaw, dessert and beverage.
Reservations must be placed by calling Nancy @ 477-7101. Deadline for reservations is August 20th. Take-out orders can be picked up at the Masonic Temple, 710 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush after 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th.
