St. Michael the Archangel Church / St. Jude the Apostle Parish

Dear Parishioners –

On Tuesday August 3, the Trustees of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Ann- Marie Kowalczyk and Robert Long and the Trustees of St. Jude the Apostle Church, Bill Dedrick and Johanna Flanigan met with Deacon Frank Berning and  Deacon Alfred Censullo from the Diocesan Office of Pastoral Planning  to begin the process of organizing our churches during this interim state before a new pastor is assigned . It was explained that Priest Assignments are generally made by the Bishop in July and January. Because no priest has yet to be assigned to our churches the trustees of each church has been delegated to work with the Diocese  to develop an interim plan.

The Diocese will be assigning an interim priest to perform weekend masses and reconciliation at both church. An interim, part-time Administrator will also be assigned to both churches to fill in the gaps between pastoral needs, trustee needs and the business activities of the parishes.  This Administrator will also be an advisor to the bishop in the process of selecting a new pastor.

We, the trustees, are committed to all work together during this interim period. We along with the Diocesan representatives at the meeting are committed that neither parish will lose their identity during this process.

Deacon Berning stated that the Diocese currently expects to have an interim priest and interim administrator assigned by September 1 and a new pastor and/or Parish Life Coordinator by January, 2022.

We ask each and every one of you for your patience and your prayers during this interim period.  By working together, we will accomplish our mission of maintaining our ministries and providing the services to our parishioners and community. As your Trustees, we are committed to keep you informed as much as possible on our progress.

Sincerely, Bill Dedrick, Ann Marie Kowalczyk, Johanna Flanigan, Robert Long
