Cross Walk in Averill Park

~Reflections of a recent A.P. Cross Walk in anticipation of the next~

We walked following a carried cross, the strong and the frail together.
Some with canes, and one with a walking device commonly seen in care facilities but here by a WWII veteran keeping pace, alongside a baby in a stroller. All pausing for prayers along the highway of trucks spewing fumes and dropping stones.
Little suffering compared to the first cross walk.
We appeared an annoyance while walking alongside the highway and crossing beyond safety zones, causing a halt to the flow.
Then a delivery truck approaching slowed, blinkers flashing in homage to the cross.
Reverence in traffic.
