Take & Make Craft: Pumpkin Paper Lanterns – Pick up anytime from Monday, October 3 through Saturday, October 29. Make a paper jack-o’-lantern to get ready for Halloween!

Cool Science: Marble Maze Challenge – Tues., 10/18, 4:00-6:00pm – Create your own paper plate marble maze and learn about engineering!See more events on the reverse side!

Pajama Storytime – Tues., 10/18, 6:00pm – Feel free to wear your pajamas or bring a stuffed animal friend to this evening storytime! For ages birth to 8 years.

Afternoon Book Club – Wed., 10/19, 1:00pm – Biased: Uncovering the Hidden Prejudice That Shapes What We See, Think, and Do by Jennifer Eberhardt. Join us the third Wednesday of each month for a book discussion! Books available at the front desk.

Teen Time: Halloween Cookies – Wed., 10/19, 4:00 pm – Teens in 6th-12th grades are invited to decorate tasty, spooky (or not-so-spooky) Halloween cookies!

Learn & Play Storytime – Thurs., 10/20, 10:30am – Children from birth to age 5 are invited to enjoy stories, rhymes, music, and movement while building their early literacy and motor skills!

Bridge Club – Fri, 10/21, 10:30am – Come play bridge with us! Geared toward beginners and players who need a refresher.

Paint a Mini Pumpkin – Sat., 10/22, 11:00am-3:00pm – Come paint a mini pumpkin to decorate your home for Halloween!

Sand Lake Town Library Board Meeting and Events

LEGO Tuesday, 3:30 – 6pm. Drop in, bring a friend, get creative. We have lots of LEGOs to design with. 

Family Storytime – Wednesdays at 11am. Enjoy stories, songs, crafts & fun while learning pre-literacy skills. All ages – no registration needed. October themes: jungles, farm animals, and dinosaurs!

Book Club, November 2 – The book will be The Agitators: Three Friends who Fought for Aboilition and Women’s Rights by Dorothy Wickenden.

Museum passes to The Clark, USS Slater, MASS MoCA, Albany Institute of History & Art, and Hancock Shaker Village are available for loan, as are wi-fi hotspots. Study and meeting space also available.

Halloween Costume Swap @ EG Community Library

Swap instead of shop at the library, Sat. Oct. 15th from 11am-1pm! Swap ticket is required (see details about costume donation requirements for getting swap ticket). Our costume swap is recycling at its most fun! We are accepting costumes now thru Oct. 14th.

Here’s how it works:

Drop off your costumes in the Children’s Room between Saturday, October 1st and Friday, October 14th. In exchange for each complete, clean, gently worn costume, you will receive 1 swap ticket to claim a new-to-you costume at the October 15th event. Please note that the library cannot guarantee fit or selection. We are accepting costumes in all sizes, infant to adult. You can drop off a costume even if you are not interested in choosing a new one.

Upcycled Jewelry Workshop at Troy Public Library

Join us for an upcycled jewelry-making workshop at the library. Whether you have a broken necklace or bracelet lying around that needs to be fixed, a statement piece you’ve never liked that could be turned into something new, or are just looking to learn a new skill, this event is for you. Participants are encouraged to bring any supplies they would like to work with to the event, but materials will also be provided for those that need them. The event will be held on Monday, October 24th, 6:00-7:00 p.m. 

This in-person event is free and open to the public. The class is intended for an adult audience. Registration is required. To register call the library at 518-274-7071 or register online at www.thetroylibrary.org. The Troy Public Library is located at 100 Second Street, Troy, NY.

Celebrating Our Volunteers – October 22, 2022

Please Join the Friends of the Nassau Free Library at an Open House Saturday, October 22, 2022 to honor and celebrate the volunteers who have worked with our library; In particular two individuals; Pat Bruck and Judi Markessinis, will be added to our plaque recognizing valued volunteers. 

We will have a brief ceremony for this memory of them. Please join us for light snacks and conversation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.at the Nassau Free Library, Rt. 20, Nassau, NY to help show appreciation for all those who are an integral part of the library.
