North Greenbush Public Library Update

NORTH GREENBUSH – Storytime at the North Greenbush Library has moved its weekly sessions outdoors, on Tuesdays, at 11 AM. Bring a blanket or chair and join Ms. Donna on the front lawn for stories, songs, and simple crafts, all based on a specific theme. We will cancel if the weather is uncooperative.

Get into the Halloween mood with our October virtual book club, which will be discussing “Stiff: The Curious Lives Of Human Cadavers” by Mary Roach, on Monday, October 25 at 6:30 PM via Zoom. Roach approaches her subject with meticulous detail and a surprising sense of humor for what one

Sand Lake Town Library News

SAND LAKE – The Sand Lake Town Library will be closed on Monday, October 11 in observance of Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day.

The SLTL Friends book sale will be Saturday, October 16 from 10 – 2 at the library – lots of books, DVDs, & CDs. We will also have a simple fall activity for the kids. – All outdoors; rain date Oct. 23.

Intro to Streaming Video, Tuesday, 10/19 at 6pm Learn about the many options for watching tv, movies, tutorials, and other video content on your devices with free and paid services and apps – and get that content up onto your television for the big screen experience. This class is a lecture with demonstrations, taught online, via Zoom. Skill Level: Beginner. Register at https://forms.gle/s7ZZoipEqfbjFLGt6

Board of Trustees monthly meeting will be Thursday, October 21 at 6:45pm.

Friends of the Nassau Free Library – Artisans & Crafters Needed

NASSAU – Attention Artisans, Crafters and Vendors in the areas of Nassau, Schodack, East Greenbush and other local areas; The Friends of the Nassau Free Library are holding our annual Harvest Fest and Pie Sale on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Chandler Young VFW hall on Rt. 20 in Nassau. We expect to have room for about 10 vendors, tables will be available and we hope to offer a variety of hand-made items for sale. Please submit samples and /or photos of your crafts to the Friends at the Nassau Free Library by October 13th to our email (friends@nullnassaufreelibrary.org ) or to the Nassau Free Library, P.O. Box 436, Nassau, NY 12123. Include a brief description of your crafts and how many people you will bring. As space is limited we reserve the right to select which vendors we will include. Hours for the sale will be 9:00 – 3:00 (set up at 8:30) and the vendor fee is $25 to be paid on the day of the event. All vendors must be vaccinated. Jigsaw Puzzle Sale at Poestenkill Library

POESTENKILL – Stock up on jigsaw puzzles for the winter months at an unusual sale of dozens of good condition used puzzles. Proceeds will benefit the Poestenkill Library. Friends of the Library will sell puzzles on the Library lawn (9 Plank Road, 12140) on Saturday October 16 from 9 to noon. Most puzzles are 1000-piece ($5), many others are 300 or 500-piece ($3), and a few are children’s puzzles ($1). Come to find great puzzles by White Mountain Puzzles, Wysocki, Springbok, Hometown, among others. Masks and maintaining social distance are required. Fall Book Sale Coming Soon!

SAND LAKE – The Sand Lake Town Library Friends will be holding their Fall Book Sale on Saturday, October 16th from 10a.m. to 2:00p.m. at the library. We’ve got books for all ages and tastes, so come check it out! Perhaps you are planning to attend “Amazing Graves” (a program by the Sand Lake Center for the Arts) that weekend as well — you could do both since they take place on Rt. 66. The SLTL Friends are seeking new community-minded members to help us help the library by sponsoring activities and events, as well as helping it grow. We recently wrapped up our “Explore AP” companion activity to the summer reading program. Many people enjoyed visiting some new and well-known places in our community. Support us in whatever way works best for you: visit sandlaketownlibrary.org/friends/ or the library to join with our brochure, purchase a Friends tote bag for $20, join us the second Tuesday of each month, and come to the Book Sale on October 16th.
