Eco-Friendly Flower Arranging

Learn to make an all-natural flower arrangement using dried and fresh flowers on October 12 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Malden Bridge Community Center. Elaine Donges, an experienced arranger will lead this workshop. Bring your own eco-friendly container such as a basket, teapot, canning jar, etc. to make a centerpiece containing NO artificial materials. Limited to eight participants. LEGO Tuesdays – ages 4 and up can drop in anytime between 3:30pm and 6:00pm to build with our LEGOs.

Family Storytime – Wednesdays at 11am. Enjoy stories, songs, crafts & fun while learning pre-literacy skills. All ages – no registration needed.

Pre-retirement Series: Social Security: The Unconventional Truth for a Better Retirement on October 12, 6pm. Take & Make Craft: Pumpkin Paper Lanterns – Pick up anytime from Monday, October 3 through Saturday, October 29. Make a paper jack-o’-lantern to get ready for Halloween!

Pajama Storytime – Tues., 10/11, 6:00pm – Feel free to wear your pajamas or bring a stuffed animal friend to this evening storytime! For ages birth to 8 years.

Kids Cook: Donut Apples – Wed., 10/12, 4:00pm – Join us each month for Kids Cook, where we will have fun making something tasty. This month, come decorate apple slices with a cream cheese frosting to make a unique type of donut!

Learn & Play Storytime – Thurs., 10/13, 10:30am – Children from birth to age 5 are invited to enjoy stories, rhymes, music, and movement while building their early literacy and motor skills!

Free Halloween Costume Giveaway – Sat., 10/15, 10:00am-4:00pm – Browse a selection of donated Halloween costumes, wigs, masks, and accessories & pick out costumes to take home! Donations of clean, gently used items accepted through Thu., 10/13.

North Greenbush Public Library Updated

October at the North Greenbush Public Library promises to be busy with crafts’ fun for kids of all ages. Children, ages 3-10, can bring their parents every Thursday in October for a ‘Thursday Crafternoon’ between 3 and 5 PM. Each crafternoon will feature a new project highlighting the fall season.

Your little ones will get in the mood for Halloween at our Outdoor Storytime, each Tuesday in October, outside the library entrance at 11 AM. Be ready for some pumpkin stories and crafty ideas. Ghosts are not invited! Teens and adults, don’t despair! We’re readying crafts for both later in the month.

Monday, October 10, the library will be closed for Columbus Day. We reopen on Tuesday, October 11, at 10 AM.

Our Virtual Book Club will discuss “The Treeline” by Ben Rawlence via Zoom, Tuesday, October 25 at 6:30 PM. Call for the meeting link at 518-283-0303. Copies of the book can be requested at the circulation desk.

Halloween Costume Swap at Poestenkill Library

Think green this Halloween! Save money and reduce waste by participating in a Halloween Costume Swap at Poestenkill Library. 

The library is currently accepting donations of clean, gently used Halloween costumes. Costumes, Halloween masks, and costume accessories in good condition can be donated between now and 10/8. All sizes, infant – adult, are welcome. Donations should be brought to the circulation desk during regular hours. Please, do not leave them on the library porch. To ensure the best, hassle-free swap experience for participants we also ask that you label all costumes with a description (ie. vampire, size 7/8). 

On Wednesday, 10/12 between 4:30 – 6:30, come to the library to pick out a “new to you” costume. All costumes, masks, and accessories will be free and available on a first-come, first served basis. This event is open to everyone. You do not need to donate a costume in order to choose a new one, or vice versa. Celebrating Our Volunteers – October 22, 2022

Please Join the Friends of the Nassau Free Library at an Open House Saturday, October 22, 2022 to honor and celebrate the volunteers who have worked with our library; In particular two individuals; Pat Bruck and Judi Markessinis, will be added to our plaque recognizing valued volunteers. 

We will have a brief ceremony for this memory of them. Please join us for light snacks and conversation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.at the Nassau Free Library, Rt. 20, Nassau, NY to help show appreciation for all those who are an integral part of the library.
