Shorts Out Loud! At The Troy Public Library

The Troy Public Library is pleased to present “Shorts Out Loud!” consisting of fifteen minutes of LIVE acoustic music followed by a short story read out loud, refreshments and discussion, on Thursday, July 18th at 6:30PM at the Main Library.

Friends of the Poestenkill Library

The Friends of the Poestenkill Library will be holding a bake sale during the Farmer’s Market on the Town Hall lawn on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 9 am to 12 pm.  Stop by while shopping to pick up a tasty pie, muffins, breads, cookies and other assorted baked goods.  If you would like to bake for the sale please drop your goods off at the Poestenkill Library on Friday, July 19 from 10 am to 1 pm or on Saturday morning.  Funds raised go towards supporting the wonderful programs provided by our library.  Any questions please call Jill Gresens at 518-283-2510.

Comic Mime Comes to the North Chatham Free Library

Come join us to see Robert Rivest’s fabulous show “Space: First Mime on the Moon” on Thursday, July 25. The show will run from 12pm-2pm with nonstop laughs for all ages. Rivest uses his hilarious imagination to celebrate reading, libraries, space, and summer fun for this multigenerational entertainment. Bring your kids, parents, grandparents and next-door neighbors! It’s sure to be a great time. Troy Public Library Evening Book Discussion

The TPL’s Evening Book Group will be discussing Natural Causes: An Epidemic of Wellness, the Certainty of Dying, and Killing Ourselves to Live Longer by Barbara Ehrenreich on Monday, August 5th at 6:30 PM.

Our monthly book group meets to discuss a wide range of book selections. New members are always welcomed.  Monthly participation is not necessary, come for the books that interest you!

Week 3 – North Chatham Free Library’s Summer Program!

Come join us for the third week of our summer program! Print Making comes first on July 22 (12-2). Look through a telescope and imagine a design, then create with textured blocks an outer space work of art. July 23 brings Music and Movement; dance, stretch and use a variety of instruments. The 12 pm class welcomes ages 7 and under, 1 pm welcomes ages 8 up. Out of this World Watercolors will free you on July 24 (12-2), entering into the relaxing world of brush stroke and color. Comic Mime Robert Rivest celebrates reading, libraries, space, and summer fun in his show “Space: First Mime on the Moon” on July 25 (12-2). All ages welcomed for multigenerational laughs. Art Display –Stop in to see the lovely acrylic and iPad paintings created by Lynne Ware.

Storytime – Thursdays at 11:30am build early literacy skills with stories and rhymes. Followed by a simple craft.

Movie Night – Tuesday, July 23, 6pm join us for a PG movie night with popcorn and juice. Bring your pillows and blankets!

Friends of the Rensselaer Library

The Friends will be providing baked goods on Wednesdays at Music behind the North End Firehouse.  All members and anyone who would like to support the library are asked to bake, cookies, brownies, cup cakes or something similar.  Please drop off your items around 5:30 pm at our table, music starts at 6 pm.  All proceeds go to promote programs at the library during the year.

Registration for the summer reading program was held on June 29th but parents can still register their child for “A Universe of Stories”.  This program is designed to keep children reading during the summer months and improve their reading skills, there will be prizes.

SAVE THE DATE:

Sept. 14th — Our first annual fundraiser “Sipping and Sampling” from 5-9 pm at City View Terrace above Partition St. Wine and Liquor.

Greenbush Garden Club Awards Grants

Each year the Greenbush Garden Club awards grant to local schools or community organizations for educational programs and/or community beautification projects, ideally targeted to kids.

This year the Club awarded grants to the Robert C Parker school for a ground cherry garden and to the Green Meadow School for a rock garden.  We wish them every success with these projects.

Money for the grants and the Club’s Garden Therapy program at Van Renesselear Manor is raised at our plant sale which is held in May of each year.

New members are always welcome. The Club meets at the East Greenbush Library.  For the months of September, October and November of this year we will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.  We hope to see you then.
