Nassau Free Library

NASSAU – Parking Lot Pickup Service Begins June 15th. Monday- Friday 3-6 pm

We are happy to announce that library patrons can now pick up items requested online or by phone through contact-free our parking lot pickup service while the library building is closed! Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Place your items on hold online or by phone.

Use the online catalog on our website www.nassaufreelibrary.org to search for items and place a request on the items you want. If you prefer to place your requests over the phone, please call (518) 766-2715. We will be answering the phones between 2 and 6 pm Monday-Friday. Please note that quarantine procedures on items will significantly lengthen the amount of time it will take to receive holds from other libraries. This could take a week or so longer than the normal turnaround time. Please limit your requests to 5 requests per patron.

Step 2. When your items are ready, you will get a notification via email, phone, or text. Call the library to schedule a time to pick up your items.

Be sure to have your library card barcode number available when you call so that we may check-out items to your account.

Step 3: Pick up your items.

When you arrive at the library during your scheduled pickup time, please call us at (518) 766-2715. Staff will bring your requested items to your vehicle and place them in your passenger side window or trunk. Please remain in your vehicle to help us maintain social distancing practices.

Step 4: Returning Library Materials

Please return all library materials to our outside Book Drop Box located on our front porch.

The Nassau Free Library building remains closed to the public. Restrooms, computers, and other spaces will not be accessible. Copy/Fax Service will not be available at this time.

We will keep you posted during this transition time and we thank you for your support and patience!

The Nassau Free Library is located at 18 Church St. Nassau, 12123

Poestenkill Library to Begin “Porch-Side” Service on June 15

POESTENKILL – The trustees and staff are happy to announce that limited library service will begin on Monday, June 15th. The staff has been excited to return to the library on a limited basis, and the book drop has been unlocked. The porch has been repaired and just needs a bit of painting to complete the project. The next step to restarting services to the community will be delivery of library materials (books, DVDs, etc.) from the front porch. Although our doors will still be closed to the public, staff will be happy to gather the materials you request and get them ready for you to pick up from the porch. All currently checked out items have had their due dates extended. At your convenience, you may begin return them to us via the book drop. The book drop will be emptied daily but may fill up quickly. We are not able to accept returned materials in person, please do not leave them on the porch. Once returned, all items will be quarantined in the library for 3 days prior to being checked in so it will take a few days for you to see the items come off your account. Details on the process for requesting items will be posted on the library’s website (www.poestenkilllibrary.org) and on signs outside the library. We are also not able to take book donations at this time, but do plan to have a couple of donation days over the summer to allow people to bring all those books, DVDs, and CDs they cleaned out while they have been at home. The health and safety of staff and patrons are at the forefront of all of our decisions. We are following the current guidelines set up by New York State, the CDC, and OSHA. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we slowly work towards opening the doors to the public.
