Storytime: Wednesdays 10:30am Join us for stories, songs, and crafts geared towards our youngest library friends. Infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners and 1st graders along with their grownups are welcome.

LEGO Club Tuesday, May 30, 6pm- Children of all ages join together to create and play, using the library’s large collection of LEGOS.

Knitting Night! Tuesday, May 30 6pm- Do you knit? Or maybe you have always wanted to learn? Join us for a fun and casual way to relax. Bring an already-started project or start a new one! 

Kitchen Herbs-Myth, Magic, Folklore & Uses Program: Thursday, June 1, 6pm- We’ll also go over how to grow these low-maintenance herbs, how to use them, and simple recipes for your own health and wellness. The speaker will be Janis Fallon, one of Rensselaer County’s Master Gardeners. RSVP

Chair Yoga: Mon. June 5th 2:30pm- Emily Brache will introduce the benefits of chair yoga for health, mind, body, and spirit. Classes will take place in the Nassau Free Library Community room. Registration required. 

International Potluck Club: Spain- Tuesday, June 6, 6pm This time we are heading to Spain! Bring a dish to share inspired by Spanish cuisine, and enjoy meeting new and old friends, all the while enjoying music and the sights of Spain. RSVP

Friends Book & Puzzle Sale: Sat. June 10, 9am-3pm (During Village-Wide Yard Sale)

Stop by the library and find puzzles, gently used fiction, nonfiction, paperbacks, children’s books, and DVDs. Book donations for the sale will be collected at the library during business hours beginning Monday, May 22- Saturday, June 3.

Bring Your Own Device Event: Tuesday, June 13, 1-2pm. Do you need help with using your digital device? Drop into the library with your laptop, tablet, or smartphone to get help.

Sand Lake Town Library Closings and Events

Sand Lake Town Library will be closed Saturday, May 27 thru Monday, May 29 for the Memorial Day weekend, but our digital offerings are always available.

LEGO Tuesdays, 3:30 – 6pm. Drop in, bring a friend, build! We have lots of LEGOs to design with. 

Storytime, Wednesday, May 31 at 11am. This will be our last storytime until the end of June.

On display: wonderful landscape photos of near and far by Ron Greenberg through June 30. 

Book Club meets Wednesday, June 7 at 7pm to discuss “The Swimmers,” by Julie Otsuka.

SLTL Book Sale coming Saturday, June 24!

North Greenbush Public Library Update

The Library will be closed Saturday, May 27 through Monday, May 29 as we spend this coming Memorial Day weekend honoring and remembering our veterans. We will reopen at 10 AM on Tuesday, May 30.

Check out our storytime for pre-schoolers Tuesday mornings in the Town Hall Annex at 11 AM. Come for crafternoons every Thursday from 3-5 PM in the Children’s Room.

Get on the road with the Upper Hudson Library Expedition, a self-guided tour of our 36 unique libraries, ongoing through July 31. Stop in to pick up your Expedition map and get your library adventure started!

Adult Contemporary Fiction Book Group – Wed, May 31, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. (Lansingburgh) This month we are discussing Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi. Copies of the book can be picked up at Lansingburgh during the month of May. 

Adult Yoga – Wed, May 31, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. (Lansingburgh) A class that is focused on a gentler style of hatha yoga practice. It is performed at a slower pace, with less intense positions, and usually includes extended time for meditation, yogic breath work, and relaxation. All skill levels are welcome, modifications will be provided. Please wear loose/comfortable clothing and bring your yoga mat. RR

Fiber in the Morning – Thurs, June 1, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. (Lansingburgh) Join us for this informal stitching group. Bring your knitting, crochet, sewing, needlepoint or other lovely stitch based craft on down to the Lansingburgh Branch Library and start your Thursday off with some craftiness.

Storytime Learn and Play – Thur., May June 1, 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. (Main) We will share stories, songs, movements and more! For children ages 0-5 with a caregiver.

North Chatham Free Library (NCFL) Announces “A Wine Tasting for the Season” Event

Explore, taste, and savor a sampling of wines at this special fund-raiser to support the North Chatham Free Library and hosted by North Chatham resident, sommelier, and world acclaimed wine expert Daniel Johnnes on Saturday, June 3 from 5 to 7 P.M. Join us and mix and mingle in the Back Library Garden at 4287 Rte. 203. The cost per person is $45 and reservations are required by Sunday, May 27, due to limited space. Johannes’ career is unparalleled in the wine world, currently serving as Wine Director for Daniel Boulud’s Dinex Group, which includes over 15 restaurants in New York City and internationally. Johnnes also manages the wine program for American Express’s Centurion New York, located in the One Vanderbilt building. 

He has received two of the highest honors from the French Republic for his efforts in the furtherance of French wine and culture by being named a Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole (2016) and Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite (2023). Johnnes is a three-time James Beard Award winner, as well as the prestigious Who’s Who Among Food & Beverage in America award. 

He is also the founder of Pressoir.wine, which offers intimate wine experiences, consulting services, and an exclusive club.

Annual Book & Puzzle Sale, Nassau Free Library

Friends of N.F.L. Annual Book & Puzzle Sale – June 10, 2023

Do you have your SUMMER READING planned? Or are you in need of new material and maybe new puzzles? The Friends of the Nassau Free Library will hold their annual Spring Book and Puzzle Sale, Saturday, June 10th at the Nassau Free Library, 18 Church Street, Nassau, NY 12123. Hours for the sale will be Saturday 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (bag sale at 1:00). Gently used Jigsaw puzzles will also be available on Saturday. Parking is in back or across the street in the church lot. 

Beginning May 22nd donations of gently used books, both hard back and paperback and puzzles are being accepted at the library. The deadline for contributions is Saturday, June 3, 2023. No text books or encyclopedias and all deliveries should be during library hours. Complete puzzles in original boxes, please! Poestenkill Library/Clement Scholarship

The Poestenkill Library/Clement Scholarship of $1000 is available again this year for a 2023 high school graduate who is attending a two or four-year college in the Fall. 

The student is asked to write a 500-word essay expressing their love of reading and mail it to the library at 9 Plank Rd Poestenkill, NY 12140, email it to info@nullpoestenkilllibrary.org or bring it directly to the library. 

The deadline is 6/16/23. The candidate must be a Poestenkill resident but can attend any high school or be home schooled. Please put all pertinent information – name, address, phone #, and name of college on a separate sheet of paper so the winner can be picked solely on the content of the essay.
