Sand Lake Town Library – Community Cookbook

SAND LAKE – While we’re staying at home, many of us are cooking more than usual. With that in mind, our Upper Hudson Library System is going to put together a downloadable cookbook full of all of our favorite recipes! If you have a favorite recipe or something new you’ve created during our self-isolation, why not share it? Email your recipes & pictures to info@nullsandlaketownlibrary.org with the subject line “Cookbook Challenge” or mail them to Sand Lake Town Library, 8428 Miller Hill Road, Averill Park, NY 12018 by July 1st. Happy cooking!

Don’t forget to check our website and facebook page for info, resources, and activities. If you have a question or need help, email info@nullsandlaketownlibrary.org or call 518-674-5050 and leave a message – we will return your call.

Protect Yourself from COVID-19 Scams

NO. CHATHAM – Wednesday May 20th at 10am. Cassandra Walker, Associate Director in the NYS Attorney General’s Office, will share information on the most common scams her office is seeing in this ZOOM session, hosted by the North Chatham Free Library. It is sad but true, scam artists are using the Covid-19 crisis to steal your money and/or your identity. Call or email the library in advance for information on how to log into ZOOM and the necessary meeting information at 518-766-3211 or mail@nullnorthchathamlibrary.org. This session is part of the NCFL’s adult learning program, Enriching Life, Increasing Knowledge (ELIK) program, funded in part by the Bank of Greene County.

Sand Lake Town Library Update

SAND LAKE – Hope this finds you all healthy and well! Please remember that even though our building is closed to the public, Sand Lake Town Library staff are still working to provide you access, whether it be to downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and movies or to information on online tours, book groups or readings, kids activities and more. Our library system recently secured approval to continue at-home access to Ancestry.com through the end of May as well. Need a library card? Click the “submit” button under the “Search the Catalog!” link on our website sandlaketownlibrary.org, then select “Get a Library Card” from the menu options at the top of the UHLS page.

Information and activities are shared daily on our facebook page and we recently started a “Things to do today…” post on our website. Our book group has gone virtual and is currently reading “On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous.” Email info@nullsandlaketownlibrary.org if you’d like to join their next discussion on June 3.

For those of you who don’t care for the online world, give us a call and leave a message letting us know how we can help. We are limited by the current COVID-19 regulations & guidelines, but will do what we can even if it’s just a friendly chat over the phone. If you know of someone who could use a phone call or letter, send us their contact info and we’ll be happy to connect with them.

Remember the Upper Hudson “Cookbook Challenge” that’s taking place during this quarantine – just email/mail your favorite family recipe or quarantine creation to: info@nullsandlaketownlibrary.org or SLTL, 8428 Miller Hill Road, Averill Park, NY 12018.

The SLTLibrary Board of Trustees will hold a virtual meeting Thursday, May 21. Connection info will be posted on our website the day of the meeting.

Stay well – be well and we hope to see you soon!
