Master Gardeners: Lawn Care Program Thu. 5/4 6pm- David Chinery, Horticulture Educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension, will share strategies to help improve & solve specific lawn problems. You may bring a 1/2 cup soil sample from your lawn for a free pH test.

Teen Glow in the Dark Yoga-Tue. 5/9 6:30pm-Mellow ambiance with glow-in-the-dark balloons and accessories to make it extra fun! Limited to 10 tweens & teens, ages 11 & up. Call to register.

Beginner Yoga-Thursdays, 5/11, 5/18, & 5/25 6pm registration required.

Dungeons & Dragons Club-Saturday 5/13 11am Come to learn how to play the game or share your game skills! For ages 10-adult. Space is limited please register.

Friends Book & Puzzle Sale Sat. 6/10, 9am-3pm (During Village-Wide Yard Sale)- Stop by the library and find puzzles, gently used fiction, nonfiction, paperbacks, children’s books, and DVDs! All funds from the sale will benefit the library. Book donations for the sale will be collected at the library during business hours beginning Monday, May 22- Saturday, June 3.

Poestenkill Library/Clement Scholarship

The Poestenkill Library/Clement Scholarship of $1000 is available again this year for a 2023 high school graduate who is attending a two or four-year college in the Fall. 

The student is asked to write a 500-word essay expressing their love of reading and mail it to the library at 9 Plank Rd Poestenkill, NY 12140, email it to info@nullpoestenkilllibrary.org or bring it directly to the library. 

The deadline is 6/16/23. The candidate must be a Poestenkill resident but can attend any high school or be home schooled. Please put all pertinent information – name, address, phone #, and name of college on a separate sheet of paper so the winner can be picked solely on the content of the essay.

Sand Lake Town Library Events

North Greenbush Public Library Update

Even Princess Lea and Luke Skywalker wouldn’t want to miss our “May the 4th be with You!” celebration today, Thursday, May 4, with a Star Wars scavenger hunt and a Star Wars themed Crafternoon project. Join us anytime from 3-5 PM in the library’s Children’s Room.

Storytime on Tuesday mornings at 11 AM will be held in the Town Hall Annex. 

Prepare yourself for Mother’s Day with a hand-made card. Come to our Mother’s Day card-making station set up in the Children’s Room, on Friday, May 12, and Saturday, May 13. Drop in and let your children make a card for that “someone special” in their lives.

The May book selection of our Virtual Adult Book Club is “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat” by Oliver Sacks. Sacks delves into patient cases, some who have lost their memories, others who are no longer able to recognize people and common objects. The meeting will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, May 30 at 6:30 PM. Books are available at the Circulation Desk.

The Friends of Poestenkill Library will be holding our Spring Market Day on the library lawn on Saturday, May 6, from 9am to 12pm, with a rain date of Sunday, May 7.
