The Book Seller is Closed Temporarily

TROY – Due to an increased positivity rate for COVID19 in Rensselaer County and the Capital District, the Troy Public Library has taken a half step back from their original re-opening plans. Access to the Main Library and Lansingburgh Branch is by appointment only.  All visitors are required to make an appointment by calling the Main Library at 518-274-7071 or the Lansingburgh Branch at 518 235-5310. 

Unfortunately this has required a temporary closing of the book store. Plans are being made for an off site Pop Up sale of a gently used books in the near future. Till then, Happy New Year from the Friends of the Troy Public Library. We look forward to extending good wishes in person real soon.

Houseplants 101

TROY – Master Gardener and Interior Designer Denise Maurer will be presenting a workshop entitled Houseplants 101 on Tuesday, January 12th at 6PM, for the Troy Public Library.

Did you know that houseplants can clean your air? Not only that, but they add oxygen to the room too. Learn more about these facts as well as how to select plants and care for them to your environment. We’ll also examine when and how to repot, how to include in your décor, and everything else you need to know to be a successful indoor gardener. Come join the growing green trend!

Adult Evening Book Group Meeting

TROY – The Troy Public Library’s Lansingburgh Branch Evening Book Group will be discussing Jeanine Cummins’ American Dirt on Tuesday, January 19th at 6PM.

Our monthly book group meets to discuss a wide range of book selections. New members are always welcomed. Monthly participation is not necessary, come for the books that interest you! This meeting will be conducted via Zoom.

North Greenbush Public Library Update

NORTH GREENBUSH – Ready, set, “Bingo!” Beginning Monday, January 4, patrons of all ages can join in the library’s Winter Reading Challenge, filling out Bingo sheets, available at the circulation desk, or by download from the website. Completed sheets returned to the library will be entered into a raffle, for some fun and surprising prizes. You have until February 27 to participate. Winners (one each from children, teen, and adult levels) will be announced March 1.

“Spinning Silver” a New York Times bestseller, by Naomi Novik, is on board for discussion at the virtual book club meeting, Tuesday, January 19, at 6:30 PM. Novik’s novel won the Audie Award for Fantasy and was named one of the ten best books of the year by the New York Public Library. Call the library to request a copy and the Zoom link to join the discussion.
