Oakwood Presents Full Moon Twilight Tour July 16Th

Have you ever been in Oakwood as the sun sets and the full moon rises? It’s magical. On Tuesday July 16th at 6pm the Friends of Oakwood present their Full Moon Twilight Tour. You will hear remarkable stories as you are led to monuments of some of Oakwood’s interesting ‘residents’. The opulent Earl Chapel, Uncle Sam’s grave and the panoramic overlook at sunset are included highlights of this walking tour. And of course we’ll hope for clear views of the full moon.

Celtic Crosses Tour July 13Th At Oakwood

You don’t have to be Irish to appreciate the beauty and variety of Celtic Crosses found in Oakwood Cemetery. Saturday July 13th at 9am local historian Michael Barrett will lead a 3 hour driving and walking tour to see some of the beautiful examples of Celtic monuments in historic Oakwood. You’ll hear about their history and symbolism as well as some stories about the Irish immigrants memorialized by them.

Oakwood’s Chapel Tours Scheduled for Troy Night Out Dates

Get an early start to your Troy Night Out with a stop at the “castle on the hill” the Gardner Earl Chapel. The Friends of Oakwood will offer tours at 2pm and 3pm on the last Friday of the month, July 26.

Come see this ornate Victorian chapel before you head downtown for the rest of Troy’s festivities. The National Historic Landmark is a popular site for weddings and special events as well as funerals. We may even take a peek into one of the old cremation retorts!

Brunswick Cares Food Pantry Kid’s Summer Meal Bags

The Brunswick Cares Food Pantry is offering “Kids Meal Bags” this summer to our registered families beginning Saturday, June 22nd, and continuing through Saturday, August 31st.

Kids Meal Bags will be distributed to families of school age children during our normal pantry hours on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Limit one bag per child per week.

Our Pantry is located at Brunswick Church, 42 White Church Lane, Troy, NY 12180.
