Hope 7 Community Center 2019 Ultimate Shopping Trip to Pennsylvania

Friday, Nov 1 – Sunday, November 3, 2019

Call up a friend or family member and ask them to join you on the ultimate shopping trip to Pennsylvania this November! Friday, Nov 1st, the bus leaves at 6:15am from Dick’s Sporting Goods, Latham Farms and makes stops at The Shoppes at American Candle in Bartonsville, Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market in Bird in Hand, and your final stop will be Comfort Inn Lancaster – Rockvale Outlet. You’re on your own Friday night to do more shopping & have dinner. Saturday includes a complimentary breakfast at the hotel and more time at The Shops at Rockvale before you have the option to head out to Tanger Outlets and/or Kozier’s Christmas Village in Bernville (additional cost). Sunday also begins with a complimentary breakfast at the hotel before the bus leaves at 9am for Philadelphia Premium Outlets in Pottstown and arriving back in Latham at 9pm.

Cost per person (based on room occupancy) – Double: $225/person, Triple: $185/person, or Quad $165/person. The fee includes bus, hotel, and driver’s tip. Reserve your spot with a $75 deposit by April 30. Final Payment due by Sept 2nd. One bus only. First come basis. No refunds.

4-H Junior Chefs Program

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County 4-H Youth Development program recently completed a four- week cooking program for youth. This session had an international theme and the youth prepared food items from Mexico, Ireland, Africa and Italy. They also learned about some food customs from those countries.

The next 4-H Junior Chefs program will begin on Wednesday, May 8th. This session will meet on May 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. This program is for youth eight years and older who like to cook, and for those who would like to learn how to cook. This session will concentrate on baking a variety of food items. The 4-H Junior Chefs will meet at the CCE office, located at 61 State St., Troy on the second floor. There is a $25.00 registration fee for 4-H members and $30.00 for non-members. Community Garage Sale

Third Presbyterian Church (115 Winter Street, Troy) will be hosting a Community Garage Sale on June 1st from 9-2. So, as you do your spring cleaning, save the treasures you no longer need and plan to join us on the 1st. There is no cost to participate. Just bring a table and your treasures to sell.

Food and beverages will be available throughout the day. There is no charge for the food, but donations will be accepted and used to provide backpacks and school supplies for families in need in our community.

Brunswick Senior Ways Group are going to visit the Amish in PA on June 23rd, 24th & 25th, 2019.

Upcoming Armenian Genocide Events in the Capital Region

ARMENIAN FLAG TO FLY AT COLONIE TOWN HALL, Week of April 22:  In commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenian flag will be flown at the Town of Colonie Town Hall (Route 9, Newtonville) from April 22-29.  Again, this year, the Capital District Armenian Genocide Committee (CDAGC) appreciates this show of support by Town of Colonie Supervisor, Paula Mahan.  For more information on the CDAGC, contact Rafi Topalian at (518) 810-5018 or rafitop@nullaol.com.

ARMENIAN GENOCIDE COMMEMORATION, April 24: In commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, a brief service and program will be held at the Genocide Memorial Monument located at Riverfront Park in Troy on Wednesday, April 24, at 6:00 p.m. This event is organized by the Armenian National Committee (ANC) of Albany and supported by the Homenetmen of Albany and the Knights & Daughters of Vartan. A dinner and program will follow at Holy Cross Armenian Church, 255 Spring Avenue, Troy.

JOINT BADARAK/ MASS WITH HOLY CROSS, April 28: In commemoration of the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the St. Peter and Holy Cross Armenian Church communities will worship together in a joint Badarak/ Mass to take place at Holy Cross Armenian Church in Troy on Sunday, April 28.

 

Tailgate Sale

On Sun., May 5, 2019, the Brunswick Grange will hold their Annual Spring Agricultural Tailgate Sale at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds, Rt. 67 & 40, Schaghticoke, NY, from 8:00 am-12:30 pm.

More than 50 vendors will have various varieties of chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, veggies, plants and other agricultural items.

Absolutely no dogs, cats, puppies or kittens will be allowed for sale.
