AVERILL PARK – There were a lot of achievements for AP fans to cheer for in the past week. 

The football team had a huge 46-6 win against Troy on 9/24. Gavin Giordano rushed for two touchdowns and threw four, with Nicholas Galuski, Jake Rizzo, Nick Temple, and Max O’Connor being on the receiving end of them. Dan Milanese also rushed in for a touchdown in the win. The football team will travel to Amsterdam on 10/2 for their next game. 

The girls soccer team tied 1-1 on 9/20 against Queensbury. Bailey Ouimet scored the lone goal off an assist from Izzy Geisse. Michaelina Lombardi had an impressive seven saves in goal. The girls defeated Albany on 9/21 with a 2-0 final score. Grace Hanlon and Rebekah Crawford-Harris both scored off assists from Mary Bryant. The soccer team stayed hot, getting their sixth win of the season over Burnt Hills on 9/25 with a 1-0 final score. Madison Locci scored the game’s only goal off an assist from Bailey Ouimet. The soccer team will face Columbia in their next game on 9/30.

The volleyball team beat Albany 25-15, 25-18, 25-21 on 9/21, moving to 2-1 in the Suburban Council. Makenna Carter and Emily Prest had 10 kills each. Olivia Kronau had 23 assists and 4 aces. The volleyball team will take on Columbia in their next game on 9/30.

The boys cross country team brought home the first place trophy in the South Glens Falls invitational on 9/25. Junior Colin Brunelle led the boys, coming in third overall, followed by Evan Sweet, Jacob Hanlon, Matt Dejulio, Evan O’Connor, Cavan Hicks, and Jeremy Wing. The girls cross country team placed seventh overall at the meet. They were led by Kim Mazzacco, Violet Dupuis, and Lexi Ruppe. The cross country teams will travel to Guilderland on 10/2 for their next meet.

The boys soccer team had a tight 1-0 loss on 9/21 against Albany. Kyle Almeida nearly tied it with a first half shot that richocheted across the mouth of the goal and missed. The boys fell 3-0 to a strong Shen team on 9/23. On 9/25, the soccer team lost another close one to Burnt Hills with a 1-0 final score. The boys will travel to Columbia for their next game on 9/30.

The girls tennis team swept Albany 9-0 on 9/20. The girls fell 8-1 to Shenendehowa on 9/22 with Avery Kittleson picking up the lone win. The girls then lost 9-0 against Burnt Hills on 9/23. The tennis team will travel to Guilderland on 10/4 for their next match.

The golf team was defeated by Niskayuna 259-264 on 9/20. Dave Mooradian led the team shooting a 41. The boys lost to Shenendehowa 246-275 despite David Mooradian shooting an impressive 35. In the Suburban Council Tournament on 9/24, the boys placed seventh, led by David Mooradian, Nathan Stay, and Alex Yash respectively. The golf team will take on Columbia in their next match on 9/30.

The Troy-AP girls swim team won their second meet of the year on 9/22, beating Guilderland 106-77. They will face Schenectady on 10/1 in their next meet.
