AVERILL PARK – The spring sports regular season was in full swing this past week.

On 5/24 the baseball team defeated Guilderland 5-3 on the road. Aidan Mccue threw seven strikeouts in 5.2 inning of work and senior Michael Agro got the save. The boys traveled to Saratoga on 5/26 to get a huge 9-3 win. Alex Yash led the team with 3 hits while seniors Michael Agro and Jacob Coonan each had 2. The baseball team will travel to Niskayuna for their next game on 6/3.

The softball team beat Guilderland on 5/24 with a 9-4 final score. Taylor Schoonmaker earned the win, giving up only one earned run. Maisie Dawson and Abbey Nagel hit back to back home runs in the first inning to spark the Warrior’s huge offensive performance. The softball team will face Troy on 6/4 in their next game.

The boys lacrosse team had a huge 19-0 win against Troy on 5/29. Aubrey Loucks Best had a shutout in goal. Ethan Jamison led the boys team scoring 4 goals. Kyle church added 3 goals, Caden Jewell, Morgan Hempel, Nick Rogers and Mike Sullivan all had 2 goals, and Luke Hempel, Cole Vumbaco, Dylan Whitney, and James Fleming all scored once. The lacrosse team will see Niskayuna in their next game on 6/3.

On their senior night, the girls lacrosse team had its first win over Guilderland in program history, beating them 13-9 on 5/25. Seniors Julia Foster and Mia Tessitore both had hat tricks in the win. The girls team fell 15-8 to Saratoga on 5/27. Julia Foster and Mia Tessitore again had scored 3 goals each while Marissa Hanson and Gwen Jamison had a goal a piece. The lacrosse team will face Albany Academy on 6/3 for their next game.

The tennis team lost 9-0 to Guilderland on 5/24 but turned it around the next day with a big 7-2 win over Ballston Spa. Isaac Joseph, Zach Ryan, August Johnson, Christian Romer and Dom Marrochello won on the singles end while Nate Bourgault & Kyle Millington and Ben Campbell & Matt Harmer won their doubles matches. The tennis team stayed hot, beating Troy 8-0 on 5/27. Isaac Joseph, Christian Romer, Aidan Loucks, Dom Marrochello, Thomas Nero, and Ben Campbell won their singles matches and Nate Bourgault & Kyle Millington and Matt Gundrum & Matt Harmer won their doubles matches. The boys team will travel to Saratoga for their next match on 6/3. 

The boys track and field team defeated Albany 99-78 on 5/25. They hope to have another successful meet on 6/5 at Stillwater.
