Hello Warrior fans! The spring sports season has officially kicked off for every AP varsity team.
The baseball team had a dominant week, starting it off with a 4-3 win over Ballston Spa on 4/4. Aidan Mccue went the distance on the bump, giving up only four hits to go with seven strikeouts. Hunter Willet had two RBIs while Brady Mazzeo had two hits in the winning effort. The boys beat Scotia on 4/5 with a 15-7 final score. Tim Koval struck out six batters in three innings. Michael Wormuth, Brady Mazzeo, Stephan Koval, Ethan Nardacci and Jacob Kellar all had two hits in the win. The Warriors went on to end the week undefeated, beating Saratoga 4-2 on 4/6, thanks to a three run seventh inning to take the lead. Aidan Mccue and Mason Brown both had RBIs in the seventh inning to propel the Warriors to victory. The baseball team will travel to Albany on 4/16 for their next game.
The softball team defeated Ballston Spa 8-4 on 4/4 thanks to a two hit and two RBI effort from Abbey Nagel. The softball team went on to beat Saratoga on 4/6, with a 10-3 final score. Nagel and Bella Mahar both had homeruns in the win. The softball team will face Shenendehowa in their next game on 4/20.
The tennis team opened their season with a huge 9-0 win over Ballston Spa on 4/4. Singles winners were Zach Ryan, Christian Romer, Cavan Hicks, Greg Effman, Thomas Nero, and Tyler Michaels. The doubles teams of Jason Strickland & Ryan Richter, Kyle Millington & Owen Perala, and Dylan Juneau & Cooper Smith were also victorious. The boys fell 9-0 to a tough Saratoga team on 4/6. The tennis team faces Shenendehowa on 4/14 for their next match.
The boys lacrosse team lost 16-3 against Saratoga on 4/5. Morgan Hempel scored twice and Ethan Jamison scored once in the loss. The lacrosse team travels to Albany for their next game on 4/14.
The girls lacrosse team fell to Saratoga 18-7 on 4/5. Gwen Jamison and Lilli Vanderkar scored twice while Gianna Geraci, Lizzie Hansen and Abby Houser each had a goal. Ellie Garrison had four saves in goal. The girls lost 15-6 against Shaker on 4/7. Lilli Vanderkar and Gianna Geraci scored twice and Lizzie Hansen & Jenyka White also scored in the loss. Ellie Garrison had eight saves. The lacrosse team takes on Albany on 4/14 for their next game.
The track teams had their first meet in Colonie on 4/6. The boys team won 89-86 and the girls team won 98-74. The track teams will travel to Ballston Spa for their next meet on 4/18.
